Really, really love this place as both a gourmet food market and a cafe. This is the most interesting food market in Philly. The curation of goods is incredible, varied, and thoughtful. The same could also be said of the drink menu - it's so much more than just coffee. There's creative takes on crafted spritzers, teas, iced drinks, etc. My only complaint is the seating. It's very cute and aesthetic, fits the garage-Philly stoop vibe but it is not sturdy enough for folks of size. I've never been able to sit down and enjoy any of the great drinks or snacks I've bought. It would be really great if they mixed in a few sturdy chairs so everyone could enjoy the space.
Cool neighborhood coffee shop that is so much more. Tinned fish? Yes. Unique bottles of alcohol? Yes. Easy dinner/picnic items? Yes. And really good drinks!
My pistachio rose latte was great, as was the basic one. Also cool that they hosted a separatist beer pop up. Will return.
Our local cafe that we bring everyone to. The iced matcha latte is amazing along with their chai tea. Get the zatar crossaint. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but everyone I bring says they loved it along with their homemade syrups. The various options of ice creams, bloody Mary mixes, and charcuterie items are really good.
If you're in the area and looking for a one-off coffee bev or pastry, you'll likely leave happy. They also have many rotating venders for more food options and it's with those venders that I actually receive quality service. The majority of Herman's actual staff desperately needs an attitude adjustment. With the exception of a sweetheart or two, I come here (because I live nearby and it's convenient) and am consistently met with misery, regardless of time of day. My how-are-you's, thank-you's, and have-a-nice-day's rarely get responses, smiles, or acknowledgements. It's actually jaw-dropping lol. I don't have high expectations - it just really has gotten to the point where it dampens my morning and makes me not wanna go anymore. Far easier to walk half a block to Cake & Joe where they're actually lovely and friendly. Have a word with your baristas, Herman's! A little bit of kindness can go a long way in the service industry, especially these days. These people don't need to go above and beyond. They should just be decent and utilize basic human manners if they want to work at a coffee shop.
We love this place. The coffee is wonderful, and despite the crowds the service is quick and friendly. They have an array of food trucks that do guest appearances. Dog friendly. Parking can be tough - but manageable.
Great cafe in south Philly. Expansive market with quality canned and jarred items along with a great wine selection.
Local coffee roaster in the Pennsport neighborhood. Coffee is well roasted and tasty. They have a specialty market with wines, cocktail mixers, and Italian & local sundries.
Impressed. Rosette on matcha latte to go, clean steamer, seating, mugs, wifi, nice grassy bitter sweet matcha latte, whisked. Friendly. Good looking baked goods, and so many unique foods wines and candles for sale. Feels beachy. Served alcohol too. Sep 5 '25 Hey Philly Coffee Shops highlighted Dec 5 2024
Great neighborhood spot for coffee drinks and tea! Good for a quick stop - also longer if you’d like to sit at the tables. Would recommend to people if asked
