We went there to celebrate our oldest Brother as head of our family. The atmosphere was point on. Our waitress was the best, she was very attentive and even took pictures for us. Food was great, we were like kids again eating off each others plate. I give Lulu a high 10.
Lovely venue, wonderful staff, & delicious comfort food. Some reviews mention slow service...but perfection takes time. Generous portion sizes. I sampled some of everyone's & it was oh so tasty. Ended up getting some dessert to go, too. Parking would be a little tricky if we had come at a more peak time.
The food was delicious!! I got shrimp and grits and never came up for air ☺️ until my plate was empty. The blackened catfish was sooo good 👍 😋 👌and greens💥. The atmosphere is nice, you have to go experience for yourself.
Another one of KC's gems. Want expecting much entering this place but everything was beyond 5-stars. The service was as if we're the king of the world and the food was to die for. We debated multiple times if we liked the food because we were hungry but the unanimous decision was the good was truly exceptional. I know it's simple but if one thing has to be tried there, it's the biscuits and butter. They are to die for. Shrimp, catfish, gumbo, soup... Everything is sooooo good.
Without a doubt the best Southern comfort food in the entirety of Kansas City. The Mac and cheese is insane, rich and indulgent. I also REALLY love the pot roast. Not to mention the cocktails, simply divine. The service I have had on my numerous visits has never been anything less than some of the best in the Midwest. If you've somehow never made it to this Kansas City newcomer in the last few years, believe me it's worth the time. The prices are a touch high but you will not be let down.
1 star goes to poor customer service. 2 stars overall for food….We stopped by on a Saturday night for our 730pm reservation. The restaurant was really busy and wait times were over an hour without reservation. We took this as a good sign and were eager to try!! When our table was ready, we were seated in the back near the kitchen area. Our waiter approached us and instantly we knew he was mentally checked out, and already “sitting on his couch watching tv.” …Upon his initial approach to the table we knew service was going to be bad. He was inattentive, not personable, and flat out just did not care. The food order was incorrect, we had to ask for our drinks because he forget them several times. I get it, yall were busy, you’re tired, and ready to go home. At least have the decency to tell your manager you have nothing left to give and clock out… he instead continued to irrationally pranced around the restaurant as if he was employee of the month. Food: We ordered the half chicken platter. The chicken reminded us of KFC original chicken batter. I don’t know if we need to take a chicken anatomy class or what lol, but the chicken pieces were very unique, very hard to describe in words. We couldn’t really tell if we were eating a breast or a thigh, interesting. The flavor was good, it just left us perplexed. The sweet potatoes were different but pretty good. The biscuit had potential but was over baked and hard. Mac n cheese was just okay. We really had high hopes for this place and were super excited to try, but the poor customer service and lackluster food did not leave a good impression.
Super cute place with delicious food. I had the southern fried chicken. My husband had chicken and waffles. Food was well priced for how much you got. Very tasty. And the restaurant has a wonderful aestetic. Lots of plants, homey yet modern.
The atmosphere was great. The drinks were great. The food and service were just ok really nothing I would come back for. Chicken was overcooked cooked but good season. Greens were no. Mac and cheese decent. Biscuit was really good. Timing of dishes served poor. Worse thing is credit card fee on our debit card and we were not notified or given an option to pay cash. This scale of a restaurant should honestly include that in the dishes or absorb it.
The food was amazing. We went in for restaurant week with friends to sample all of their offerings. While everything we had was amazing. Here are the 2 standouts. The Standouts The Blueberry biscuit was so good, my only regret was that after my meal I didn’t save it for dessert instead. The flavor was sublime. The Chicken and Waffles was so good. The quality of the chicken was amazing. They weren’t small pieces loaded with grease, instead they were moist and perfectly seasoned. The waffle was delicious. I felt like I had blacked out and woke up and they were gone. They were that good and I devoured them that fast. Coming back for more soon!
We tried this restaurant last Sunday for my mother in laws birthday for the brunch menu. Their were 6 of us and we all ordered something different. We are not drinkers so we all ordered either sweet tea or peach tea. We all disliked the peach tea and sent it back it wasn't good at all and tasted like dirty water. The sweet tea was okay but they use simple syrup so it was different. I ordered the Gumbo and we all loved it after adding a dash of salt & pepper we all gave it a 10 rating it had a great flavor. My husband ordered chicken & waffles the chicken was crispy with a good flavor and the waffle was ok but very plain we all gave it a 6 out 10. My mother in law ordered the shrimp & grits and none of us liked the grits they were ver under seasoned, but the shrimp was flavored well and we all gave it a 6 out of 10. My father in law ordered the fried chicken with smashed potatoes, and it was crispy well cooked and tasted pretty good we all gave it a 7 out of 10. My sister in law ordered the brisket and eggs and she said it was ok but wasn't what she was expecting and gave it a 7. We all loved the fried green tomatoes with ranch they were a 10 but we didn't like the mac & cheese it was a 5. The servers were extremely casually dressed and the atmosphere was nice and busy. We will definitely come back and all try something different we always give a restaurant 3 times.
