Scam company just like everyone said. They entice you in for a low energy rate for the first 3 months and then out of nowhere the rate doubles. Avoid this company at all costs unless you want an electric bill that quadruples.

Since switching to NRG, my electric bill has increased by more than $140 per month. My bill used to be around $380, but now it is approximately $522 every month. That is a significant increase, and I have not seen any benefit that justifies the higher cost. I am very disappointed with the pricing and would strongly recommend that customers carefully review the supply rate and all terms before signing up. I am now looking for ways to cancel the service and lower my bill back to what it was before.

NRG scammer sales reps are set up in the Walmart grocery section. I stopped to hear what they can offer. I was first told by the rep he would email Walmart gift cards as a thank you for my time. The guy told me he could lower my rate on electric and gas. I told him I was only interested in electric, I am happy with my gas provider. I also told him I would not be switching services in Walmart. I made clear I do not make financial decisions while grocery shopping. The guy repeatedly told me I did not have to make a decision there, and I told him I would not, I would do some research online before making a decision. I asked if he had a pamphlet I could take with me. He told me the rate he could offer was only available with him. After I repeatedly said I would not switch providers without researching and that I would not switch gas providers, he asked for my drivers license (he did not say why but I knew) so he could get my address in an attempt to switch my electric and gas services after I told him no. I refused to give him any information other than my email. He told me “have a nice day.” I never received the gift cards. NRG uses deceptive sales tactics and outright lies to switch your service without your consent. Do not talk to these people and DO NOT give them your ID.

NRG PRICE was right and what they said they would do to DELIVER Clean energy to the service address was as promised! I just let them know I signed up for their business and they PROMPTLY took care of the rest. It was that easy. I have been with NRG going on two year now., since 2024- with my Gas company . I had a letter sent to me from my electric supplier that my 2 year term was coming to an end and the NEW RATE would kick in on July 15, 2026. That amount was an EXORBITANT amount and I needed to look elsewhere for a more practical solution. I decided to inquire about NRG prices and rates , never considering to put BOTH my GAS and ELECTRIC Together With the SAME company , such as , NRG. I am SO GLAD I did! Gives Me MORE PEACE of mind. Customer service was easy to talk to and they gave me several options of what would fit my budget. I thoroughly enjoyed the honesty, wisdom and direction , guidance , of the CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. With ALL the information that I was given, ultimately , it was my CHOICE and decision which way to go . I believe I’ve made the right CHOICE . I have NOT been disappointed in 2 years and I don’t anticipate any such thing in the future. They gave me hints AND tips about good times to purchase Electric and GAS prices- I feel good about having ALL my Energy needs under one company now. I am very satisfied with NRG! This is a good company I’ve built trust with the last 2 years and am looking to continue to do business and relationship with someone that won’t STEER ME wrong. I AM a Happy -NO- …. Buyer beware. NRG will switch you from a fixed rate to variable rate with No Notice. And their variable rate was not competitive so I cancelled.

I switched my electricity to NRG during a Walmart visit, and the experience was excellent! I was skeptical at first, but it all worked out perfectly. The representative’s was so friendly and informative — he walked me through the entire process step by step and made sure I understood everything. I received a two gift cards, one immediately and the other $25. Gift card 3 months later. I also receive a great electric rate. It’s rare to find customer service that’s this clear and pleasant. I’m 4 months in and still very pleased. I’m really happy I chose NRG!

Honestly, I find the process of shopping for electricity & gas prices to be over complicated and I do consider myself a technical person, who should have no issue with the process. I get how it works at an overall level, but dislike the marketing gimmicks that come along with it. "Cash back" and "Benefit to Children's Hospital". Cant I just pick a plan with no stings attached? Cash back to me, just means that there is an upcharge to the price that you pay, in order to off-set the cash being paid back. No one gives you money back, if they still aren't making more that that amount. That would just be bad business. If you' offering me cash back, why don't you just lower the price and not have the cash back involved??? I'm sure there's a gimmick to that end of the process. 3 month offers, that automatically turn into a month to month rate that can skyrocket with no warning. It all seems like predatory marketing. But this is the same with everything these days. Edit: Jesus, I just got "points" for leaving this review from Google. I cant take this. LOL

SCAMMERS. Please check your energy bills! Signed me up without any confirmation that it was me and SCAMMED ME out of $180 a month for over a year.

do not sign up with them. stick with ComEd. i was tricked into joining them with a rep at a white sox game. he lied and said my rates would not increase...they increased the first month. terrible customer service too. avoid at all costs
