I stinking love this place! Best sandwiches of any sandwich place. Get the Italian with lettuce down and mayo. Milkshake with the famous potbelly cookie
I have loved this place for years however I am disgusted at the recent information coming out regarding this location. Unsafe food conditions and bad treatment to employees. I will no longer be eating here for my own safety. I advise others to do the same and look up online how bad this locations food safety has been.

Service was quick and friendly but food was a bit disappointing. Got the meatball sandwich. Bread was toasted proper and had nice crisp with a good chew. Meatballs good but not calling home to mama about them. The sandwich was dry which was a bit confusing. No meatball sandwich should be dry. Onion thin cut and abundant with great fresh flavor. Chocolate milkshake was super tasty but a bit small for the price. To be honest probably won't eat here again.
We got there 10 minutes before they closed, yet the two employees were as friendly as if it was the start of the day. Excellent sandwiches & customer service.
Why two stars? Not the employees fault as they are understaffed. But if you don't have lot of time and place an online order , expect to wait a lot longer than your pickup time...today was 30 additional minutes. In the meantime you will watch walk in customers come and go while two people are serving them and the poor women at the online order fulfillment is busting it to get endless tickets fulfilled. I watched people give up and leave. I don't think they have any control over the time you are given to pick up, they should be able to halt online orders if there are so few employees, it's not fair to them.
If I could leave zero stars I would. The food here almost killed me with food poisoning last year.

No idea what to eat being a tourist in Portland for the first time, and Potbelly was a good choice. Fancy version of Subway sandwiches, it's fresh, delicious, and the staff are friendly.
