This is for the ER/Urgent Care: In 2015 I came to the ER with a gallbladder attack. I was downgraded to Urgent Care where I lay on the floor in agony for 8 hours before the ultrasound tech got to me and let me stay in the ultrasound room for a couple of hours before finally getting to see a doctor. After 12 total hours from arrival time I was admitted and surgery was scheduled because my gallbladder was going to rupture. The hospital staff and doctors here are lovely. Ten years later I broke my foot and found myself not wanting to seek care at an ER elsewhere because of my past experience here, so here I am. If your insurance covers any other location for ER, make this place your last resort.
My wife went here for urgent care for a UTI. The entire thing took 5 hrs. But that's not the worse part. The nurse and ER doctor were horrible. My wife was asked to give two urine sample (normally it's just one at other places). Then, the nurse gave my wife IV without saying why and gave her an opened water carton to drink out of when the carton says used (after the urine samples). Then, the nurse brags loudly outside our room for 15 minutes how she was the best and hardest working nurse in the hospital. Then leaves to go home. We asked other nurses what the IV was for and after an hour, we got a hold of the ER doctor. The doctor said the IV was to help my wife pee ... But the horrible nurse hooked up the IV after collecting two urine samples... Afterwards, we were billed for $500 (insurance paid $2k) for the visit while the bulk of the charge was for the IV treatment ... even after disputing it multiple times, the hospital says that nothing was wrong...
If I could give zero stars, I would. The radiology department at this hospital is a complete disaster. Appointments are constantly delayed, and the staff seems indifferent at best and outright rude at worst. I waited over an hour past my scheduled time with no updates or apology,,no care for comfort, just a cold, rushed experience. For a department that deals with critical diagnostics, the lack of professionalism is alarming. Avoid if you have any other option.My son supposed to have an appointment at 330pm but his dr made a mistake ordering MRI for the wrong foot,how is that possible this hospital sucks, if you’re looking for an unforgettable MRI experience, look no further! I came in expecting medical professionalism, but what I got felt more like a low-budget sci-fi experiment. The radiology team clearly trained at the prestigious School of Shrugs and Silence — not a single explanation, zero bedside manner, and the warm personality of a vending machine
This hospital has the single worst phone operator I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. I called to verify if I had the correct information to contact their intake team and the operator kept insisting they somehow did not have any intake. Then they started randomly accusing me of "trying to pull something", despite me telling her repeatedly I just want to verify their contact information. Refused to connect me to anywhere else either. This takes the cake as the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

No one wants to write a review for The Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) as it means a loved one is interned for serious trauma. I write to express my deepest gratitude and share how impressed I am at the level of health care delivery services. My family member is currently in TICU and under Dr. Tobias Muniz, his head nurse Don, and the rest of the team--we're confident he's receiving the BEST care. I've witness care, compassion, empathy from staff as they treat my family member as well as the rest of the patients interned under their care. They are very clear about their communication and set the right expectations in a sensitive manner while answering families' questions. The nurses as compassionate, highly trained professionals and seem to really care about their patients. The facility is expansive, clean and they truly are the BEST in the Bay area and in the country. The doctors' reputation is well earned for their professionalism and expertise. Rest assured, if you or family must go to TICU--Valley Med is the BEST one can hope for; they will treat you well and do everything they can to restore you back to wellness.
LAB The two lab staff i interacted with were unprofessional. The front desk staff was on her personal phone and ignored me while i waited to be addressed for 10mins. I had to ask for help after waiting without being called. The phlebotomist Mara, who draw my son's blood. Did not explain what she was doing. She keep on pulling my hand and my son's hand in the position she wanted while chewing gum loudly in my face. I had to tell her to stop pulling our hands and use her words. She did not acknowledge my words.
I had the worst team of doctors for my baby's delivery. I arrived at Santa Clara Valley Hospital on August 19th around 9:30 pm. From the beginning, they were talking about a C-section because my first child was born via C-section, but I had a completely healthy pregnancy, and everything indicated I could have a VBAC. While I was focused and in pain trying to deliver my son, the obstetrician in charge of my delivery asked stupid questions that were irrelevant at the time, like what contraception I would use after giving birth. She performed several unnecessary cervical exams on me, constantly, almost deliberately, trying to make me give up on natural childbirth, making me feel more pain and asking stupid questions. And every time she did the cervical exam, she would say, "Yeah... I feel something...", always with the same bored expression, as if she wanted to be somewhere else doing something else. After so many cervical exams, there was a point when I screamed and asked her to stop, and even then she continued. I was treated like a piece of meat, not a human being. My baby was being born; he just needed time, time that American doctors don't like to waste because they want to be quick at all costs. They practically forced me into another C-section, justifying it as my baby's head, but he was just being born. It was the worst experience of my life, being in natural labor and seeing all those people around me with bored faces like” Wow…she’s pushing for 3 hours and we’re still here….” I wouldn't recommend this hospital to my worst enemy.
I had such a wonderful experience from labor and delivery all the way through the NICU stay. Every nurse I encountered was empathetic, kind, and truly understanding. I’ll be honest—I came in with a negative perspective because of what my sister went through 10 years ago when she had her baby. But this time, everything was completely different. The labor and delivery rooms felt like hotel suites—modern, private, and comfortable. No shared rooms, which made such a difference. My baby spent 9 days in the NICU, and although it was one of the hardest times as a new parent, the staff made it so much easier. The support, encouragement, and advice I received meant everything. The lactation consultants were incredibly helpful, and the nurses—especially Johnny, Elba, and Lori—were some of the best I have ever met. They truly made me feel cared for and supported during such a difficult but special time.
SCVMC is absolutely one of the worse hospital and health clinic system I’ve seen in my opinion especially the ER, Medtele, and E-Surgical. Rude and arrogant staff. Over 12 hour wait time in ER, staff lie that they would come back to bring supplies but they don’t. The staff even said they’ll call back but they don’t. A lot of staff have 2 face and incriminate and are manipulative with the patients. Evict recovering patients still in incredible pain within 3 days or even 1 day if they can with threats. They are also neglectful of patients. Because of that, some patients end up getting very sick and having more problems than previously started with.
