Got mail-in alterations (denim tailoring, hemming) from their website, great quality work! It was around 3 weeks from when I shipped my pants out until I got them back, which isn't bad for during a pandemic. Cheapest prices around too!

Their Chainstitch hem is the best around! High quality with many options and great attention to detail. Paying for rush service was definitely the way to go— I can’t believe they turned my jeans around so fast! I will definitely be shipping them my jeans for alterations and hemming in the future!

I brought in a brand new pair of naked and famous selvedge jeans and had the waist reduced by an entire size and after getting them back I barley found where they were cut. Absolute mastercraft work and id bet money that if I told someone they were altered they couldn't see where.

I had a lot of holes to patch and random alterations I wanted them to make. Changed the collar, added a zipper and a button. Lots of areas were blown out. They kept the vibe of what I was going for in check. Super nice people. They really know what they’re doing. Highly recommend them if you have some denim issues or are looking for some stylish threads

Upon arriving to Williamsburg Garment i was welcomed by owner. I came in with pants and an idea in mind of how i wanted to make alterations to my pants. I told him what i wanted, instead of doing completely what i asked he was hands on about it, he listened and recommended what would best suite the garment. Maurice is very knowledgeable in what he does, explained how certain parts of the pant were made and why certain alterations will/will not work for the garment. This is the kind of service you want. Moral of the story he steered me into the right direction and my pants fit and feel amazing . The turn around time took 20 minutes! Not only was it fast but also quality work. I trusted him with $600 pant and he confidently worked on it because of his expertise.

If you care about denim the way it’s meant to be respected, Williamsburg Garment Company is the real deal. My Momotaro Jeans literally came off the plane from Japan straight to the shop for a hem and taper, and the results were flawless. The attention to detail in the alterations was impeccable, with a clean, precise taper and a hem that preserved the character and integrity of the denim. When I got them back, the fit was exactly what you want from a premium pair, structured, balanced, and timeless. What elevates this place even further is the expertise behind it. Maurice Malone brings a designer’s eye and deep industry experience, with a clear understanding that fit is central to a brand’s DNA, especially with selvedge denim where every detail matters. Bottom line I couldn’t be happier with the work. If you’re serious about your denim, this is the spot.

Got the classic Williamsburg Garment Co special in the response: blame, deny, condescend. I reached out to them several times by email, some never receiving a response which prompted this review. They were tailored to the measurements THEY TOOK, not that I requested. If this wasn’t possible, say that. Original review below. Took a pair of work pants to them for tailoring, discussed in length and paid quite a lot, but the reviews were good and it’s specialized. When I got them back they completely botched the job with the underside of the crotch facing forward and the pants bagging up in the front. I brought them back and the owner said that it was probably impossible to do properly because of the nature of the garment, without acknowledging that his shop took it on and did it. No apology, no offer to refund the service. When I emailed again it was never responded to. I spent $163 to have a new pair of pants ruined. If you want to take a long walk from the subway to get a pair of jeans hemmed for way too much, sure, go for it. Outside of that, you’re rolling the dice.

They did a chain-stitch hem on my Japan Blue Jeans. I was really happy with the work. The new stitching looked better then the original. I would feel comfortable working with them again.

Worst customer service ever. They have an estimated 4-5 week wait time, ok, but these guys held my jeans hostage for almost 7 weeks giving me the runaround, telling me that they’ll get to it. Assure me my jeans will be serviced. I had to come the day before flying out and leaving for 3 months only for them to still not be repaired. When they told me they’d issue a refund they never did. I’ve been having issues filing a dispute on PayPal and now these guys seem to have almost $200 of my dollars with no shame or intent of returning the money.

I hate to write a negative review, but this must be done, and it unfortunately echoes the experience of those who have left one-star reviews in the past. I'd wanted to get some shirts and pants altered, and I'd found WGC via Google. They seemed top of the line and professional. When I visited their space, I found that to be the case. I decided to have a shirt and pair of pants altered. The shirt was quick and great. So great that I brought another shirt to them. Again, quick and great. My pants were another story. They were supposed to be done in 4-6 weeks. When I went to pick up my second shirt, they said they were very behind. I said that's fine, how bad can it be? Oh, it was bad. I didn't hear anything from them at all. No communication. I emailed via their support box on the site, heard nothing. Called, and then was told they'd never received it, but that I'd hear back that day about whether they'd already begun working on my pants. I did hear back from them, and, after three months, they hadn't even begun to work on the pants. So I asked for them back and a refund. I picked up the pants, the owner apologized, which I appreciated, and he said I'd receive my refund a few days later. It's been two weeks, I've emailed multiple times, and have heard nothing. I don't have time to play these games, so I just disputed the charge via my credit card company. To be fair, I do think they're very backed up (supposedly the dude who does alterations took a month off without any notice), and they're generally nice in person/on the phone, but I can't deal with the lack of communication, especially when missing deadlines by a long shot, and then have to basically hound them for my refund. Wishing them all the best and I do hope things improve, but come on...
