The car reserved was released 24 hours before which Avis clearly states is available. Front desk person was holding the vehicles for other customers which she didn’t want to give but was okay to releasing other vehicles. Logic doesn’t exist here. Go elsewhere if you need it
Worst Avis Experience Ever ! They would not give me a car in spite of having a confirmed reservation just because I booked the same day. What kind of reason is that ? If that is the policy, please do not allow your website to make a reservation. I was told very conveniently that "Avis Website is useless, it does not check the inventory" and this was to an Avis Preferred Plus Member. I immediately made a phone call to National Car Rental in downtown and they were ready with a car for me in an instant. Should have gone there in the first place and saved my cab charges from the hotel. Please avoid this location and save yourself.
Worst Avis location. I’m a loyal Avis customer and I used to deal with branch located on 214 N Clark (great service). This time I booked online after working hours on Saturday afternoon and there were no cars at my preferred location, but plenty of car options available on this 225 S Canal branch. I had to leave to O’Hare Airport early in the morning, so I had it book at 8am next day (Sunday). While I was on my way to pick up the car, I got a call from some guy telling me that “he” does not have cars and I had to cancel my reservation. I told him that was not acceptable and I had a confirmed reservation. He told me it was my problem because I booked through a 3rd party (Priceline) and I had to deal with it. Then he hang up without even saying sorry! I went to Avis website, and to my surprise cars were available at the same time & location. So I made another booking, this time directly through Avis to prove my point. But then shifted to Enterprise. Avis, you just lost a loyal customer due to an irresponsible staff.
I was renting through the Uber program. Hertz experience is way much better than Avis. Last, year December 31st 2022. I was headed to work an area to make money for the new year. This young lady ran across the intersection when I had the right to go. I had an accident which it wasn't my fault. It doesn't matter because you are band from renting with them again once you have sn accident. I had just a few items in the car. It's very hard to speak with someone.. I was asked to describe the items. I'm been looking for some keys that I need for my husband 2022 Toyota avalon and home. I still haven't heard anything about any items their clerks don't have enough knowledge about anything. All I want is my keys. The tow truck came so fast. We didn't have a chance to retrieve any items. I didn't hear anything from them until March. That's was to clear my balance out. It's more about the money. I could have died in the accident and it would've matter to them
I have been renting at this location for a few years now, 50+ rentals during this time and they are 100% reliable. Manager is fantastic, in the event there are issues (and all local rental places are faced with serious challenges to deal with and most of which out of their control) she reaches out and let’s customers know. Great service and reliability.

They wouldn’t accept the legal paper license the dmv offers before the printed ones arrive. Made us go back and fetch more documents, when we got back (made sly comments) ,hiked up the rate unfairly to deny us service after talking between themselves in a language unknown to us . This is not an honourable way to treat customers.

We often rent from AVIS car rental place in Trenton Airport cos it’s near us. BUT the availability of car is not reliable nor totally clean cos it seems they only do a rush job vacuuming the inside. At times, when they’re busy, a proper wash is not done. This last time, from NJ to JFK, I swear our Avis rental has old cigarette smell!!!!! Avis used to have a much better brand and in delivering their promise. BUT over the years, especially after Avis and Budget merged, their service has dramatically declined! We’re hoping the other rental car agencies have a higher standard of quality and service.
