Such a cute, comfy bar. Great to meet up with the girlies for drinks or a date spot. Their bar area is intimate and their cocktail/drinks menu is great. I've gotten the lunch before and this time opted for the rose. Cant go wrong with any of their drink choices 5/5 Their food options are great for sharing so it's great for groups. We had gone between the meat vs the cheese option for the board and opted for a mix of the two. Our waiter was patient and knowledgeable to help us make the final decision. We previously ordered the fried brussel sprouts for our last visit. I think overall my impression of the food has been 3.5/5 stars. The staff was 5/5 SO sweet! Would recommend. For dessert we were deciding between a few options when our waiter came out with a surprise dessert with a candle for my friend's birthday.
Food — excellent. BBQ riib, crispy Brussels, bread basket and oysters. Cocktail — excellent Ambiance — comfortable, of course we were seated next to the two loudest people in the room 🙁 Server — efficient, welcoming, not overly attentive (Morgan)
Bar Hygge, Philadelphia, PA. Spoiler alert; This is a no for me. Bar Hygge is in Eastern State Penitentiary’s neighborhood. It was very busy. I grabbed a seat at the bar from a couple that was leaving. They have approximately 8 taps. I got the Lemon Meringue. Mostly because I wanted to say Lemon Meringue. Getting a beer based on name because they don’t have a beer on tap that you usually get. Then you like the beer you got. Is that bad because they don’t have something you know you’ll like or is it good because I tried something new and liked it?? The bartender recommended the crab fries. The crab topping was pretty tasty. The fries were a thicker cut, under cooked and soaked in oil. Sidebar - 2 days later I took my leftover crab fries. I scraped off the topping. Put fries in microwave for a minute. Then in Air Fryer for 5 minutes. Put the topping back on - Don’t judge, I’m am stubborn and frugal - They were 1268% better. I had a win the shirt off my back winner.
First time at this spot and will definitely be back! Unique and super tasty menu; the boards concept is a great way to try multiple items and still have room for a main. Lemon meringue IPA was excellent 👌 but the biggest star was the burger 🍔 which we got medium rare and it was perfection.
We came to Bar Hygge on a whim for the first time last weekend and were very impressed by the experience! I didn't realize that they brewed their own beer, which were all quite tasty. I would give the food a 4 out of 5, which is not bad at all. I ordered an assorted board -- the proscuitto and cheese were very good, but the ricotta toast was under-seasoned and a bit too bread-y. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich, which he said was "pretty good". The service from our bartender was top notch... our empty glasses were never left empty for long. We can't wait to come back!
I was passing by here from NYC and it began pouring rain. My friend and I didn’t have an umbrella so we stood under an awning when the owner of this place let us wait inside until the rain subsided. So very nice!! He even gave us waters and let us use the restroom. The place looked great and I would have loved to stay and purchase food, but we were on our way. Forever grateful for the kindness that was offered to us this day! Such a lovely place owned by kind folks. Thank you!
Cozy bar/brunch/lunch spot. Large beer list. Ample outdoor seating. Try the French toast
Great, trendy restaurant in Fairmount. Being within a 10 minute walk from both The Met and Eastern State Penitentiary, it makes a great lunch or dinner location for a day out on the town. The beer was great! The Lemon Meringue IPA and Trippy IPA were very tasty and smooth. My partner is a big craft beer guy and he was impressed as well. Food was also great! The fried chicken sandwich was perfect. My partner ordered a burger medium rare, it definitely came out on the rare side! Service was a little hectic, both the staff seating us and taking our orders seemed overwhelmed but everyone was still lovely to interact with and the food was very quick coming out. Easy to get a quick meal in before a show!
This was an excellent "pre-game" choice for a concert at the Met. 10-15 minute walk from the venue. Our waitress was AMAZING. VERY interactive and knowledgeable. Sweet and also gorgeous smile which made us all feel welcomed. The beer they make was delicious. The happy hour specials were great value and delicious. Also great beer specials. I knocked a star off for the food. It was good. But for $27 I got a hamburger with an egg and bacon on it with a side salad. The burger was ordered medium. It was very thin and fell apart when I put my fork in it. The egg was well done, which I guess I should have asked for over easy? The idea is to have yolk run down into the juicy burger patty. I got neither. But the side salad and dressing was delicious. And the bacon was done perfectly. The price of the food did NOT match the quality of the food. But maybe we are paying for atmosphere. Go for happy hour so it's discounted. And the music fit the crowd. Kudos to the manager who knew the concert and played music for the crowd.
I Stopped By After Work On A Tuesday For Happy Hour. Overall Pretty Good Experience. They Have A Nice Open Space & When I Came In Around 4:50pm There Weren’t Many People So Service Was Really Fast. From The Happy Hour Menu I Got The Lavender Lemonade With Vodka (apparently it’s the same thing as the punch but the lemonade is the alcohol free version). I Also Ordered 6 Of The $2 Oysters. Aside From That I Got The Salmon Ceviche, 1 Barbecued Oyster, 1 Roasted Oyster, & A Mango Mint Sangria. Everything I Ordered Was Pretty Good. Would Like To Add That Music Selection Was Surprisingly Good Very Nice Variety Throwback R&B, Pop Hits, & Spanish Hits. The Only Thing I Don’t Like Is That My Server/Bartender Walked Away From Me Mid Sentence When I Was About To Order The Sangria To Greet People Who Were Just Arriving. I Understand You Have To Greet But I Felt A Bit Disrespected The Way It Happened.
