In his final year at GCU, my son is majoring in the sciences. His experience has been awesome and the roommates I have met along the way are kind, respectful, and mature. The roommates shared their spiritual progress and the different experiences that helped them grow in their relationship with the Lord. In addition to being solid thinkers, they are also life observers and learn with integrity and honor. The best a father could hope for. A beautiful campus, a good education, and many opportunities to grow spiritually. I think that's a great higher education program.
I have been trying to get in contact with this school for almost 6 months now and been constantly ignored, redirected and blatantly lied too. They are seemingly involved in fraudulent student admissions. Zero other reason to ignore requests about fraud if they aren't part of it. Do not attend this school. They are clearly shady and if you research them they have been sued before for being shady. Dont give them your money.
The school was very good, I had a great time as a ground student. I was involved in many things from plays to pickup ultimate frisbee. There facilities are nice and always improving. I think the oldest dorm is maybe 2003 if I remember correctly. The only real downside that I had while I was there is the communication difficulties. They switched my advisor right before my very last class, and I almost missed paying the tuition because of it. That same advisor also said I hadn't paid graduation fees, when I clearly did. I had have the same advisor for 90% of my time there though, which was nice. I knew people who had like 5 different advisors while they were there.
Tour was lacking and jumbled. Did not show us at all what we thought we had come over 13 hours for. Lots of hidden fees that aren't reported when your looking. Also, kinesthetic learners will have a hard time here, books are all online. Different people give you different answers to the same questions. Also, I'll get the same generic answer to email and follow up. Not at all what we thought. Wasted our spring break.
Awesome campus, clean, helpful staff and volunteers. Dorms were super nice! Great feel to the place.
Great campus with nice dorm rooms and apartments. Very polite and respectful students. Lots of dinning options.
My first time to this campus and I fell in love. I'm an online student attending graduation. I wish I had the full campus experience.
One of the best choices I made was enrolling at GCU, to complete my undergrad and graduate program. There were negative reviews and if I had listened to them, I would have a missed out on a great learning opportunity. I had the best admission counselor Byran S. (Dont want to put his full name online), however he was literally available and helpful throughout my entire time at GCU. I would email him, about things that had absolutely nothing to do with his role lol, but he would still give me a call, respond to my emails, and then direct me to the right person. Throughout both degrees, I can only think of one professor, that I said drop me from the course. She was insane, but beyond that I had a wonderful experience. Now because of some financial stuff, I stuck going to Capella for my Ed.D sigh.... I will always, love and speak highly of GCU!
Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective students to explore other programs before committing. There are less expensive options that offer stronger instruction and support. I chose this program because it was the only hybrid option I found. In hindsight, I wish I had attended Northern Arizona University instead. The program is largely self-study, especially in the foundational science courses, and I did not feel the level of instruction matched the cost. I escalated my concerns through administration and was essentially told that this model is working as intended. Based on my experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There are more affordable programs that provide stronger instruction, better support, and a more structured learning experience.
I started at GCU in 2023 and will graduate fall of 2027. I am earning an online Bachelor of Science in SPED and Elementary Education. I truly have enjoyed my whole experience and how helpful they are when the help is needed. They give students MANY different resources for all sorts of things which works when you are online and cannot go to the school library.
