Paris Hatters

I was there nearly 2 weeks ago and I had forgotten to leave a review. To sum it up, it was a fantastic experience. I went in there with a general idea of what I wanted in a hat and they helped me out with the rest so I got exactly what I needed/wanted. Also, I found it very refreshing that the folks that run the store spent time socializing in the customer area, rather than hiding in a break room somewhere. Much like the small town barber shop I went to when I was growing up. It may not seem like much, but it's the little things like that which make for a pleasant experience.

Garrett was a huge help to me and a friend to find the perfect hat for us. He took the time to customize hers exactly how she wanted it! There was a bit of a wait but we were not in a rush, great to see a local business doing so well!

Best experience I could have hoped for getting my first-ever western hat. I'd known of Paris Hatters before we came to San Antonio. I loved the history of the business and seeing all the famous clientele they've outfitted over the years. And as a consumer, it's important to me to support family owned and operated businesses. I can definitely see why this place has stood the test of time. As soon as I went into the store with my husband, they were attentive, helpful, and kind. They talked me through style, color, and hat band options despite my 0% knowledge about what I wanted! And I left with a beautiful hat that I love. My husband didn't intend to buy, but ended up purchasing a gorgeous, high-caliber hat of his own even though he's a smaller size and we weren't sure it would be available. They made it happen. Definitely stop by this place when you're in San Antonio.

NEVERRRR coming to this place again. I have purchased several hats from here before but came in yesterday with my very Hispanic looking husband and the old man was the rudest. We walked in and were never greeted or even looked at. We're hat people and We were planning on buying a couple hats for my husband and 1 for our daughter. We were inside for about 6 minutes, still hadn't been greeted and the old man makes a "sho-ing" gesture at my husband when he said excuse me so we could walk past him (narrow walkway in store) like for him to get out. It was an exaggerated shoo like when you're trying to shoo the stray cat off your lawn and that did it for me to make this review. Felt very profiled and discriminated like we didn't belong and I have been coming here since I was little with my grandpa. Very disappointed but this store has lost our business and totally ruined the way I see Paris hatters. Ending up going to Wandering cowboys where the hats are the same but less expensive and they shape good too.

I recently started wearing hats more often to protect my shaved head. I was really excited to buy a fedora today at the famous Paris Hatters. I was apologetic to the older woman who offered to help me for my novice questions. I thought it would be a good time to go since there was only one other customer in the store. However, in spite of my good natured attitude she was rude and condescending. After trying on two hats and enduring multiple snarky comments I handed back the hat, thanked her, and left without purchasing anything. When we left the store my 16 year old son asked, “Was it me or was she incredibly rude?” Be warned and find another store like I did.

My experience at Paris hatters has not been all that great. I have been buying hats for the last 3 years at this location. The first time, I went in, they quickly seemed to judge and immediately began saying you cannot touch anything, that if you need something just to ask them. I dont mind them saying this, but the tone of voice and the approach was just very disrespectful. I have been in this store before and have never heard them approach the white people in this tone I was received when I walked into the store every single time. It felt like if you ain't white, you ain't right kind of deal! I have been meaning to post this review so customers can know what kind of atmosphere they might run into once they go into the store. To the other Hispanic customers that have left a negative review, I know what you experienced. I do want to give a shout-out to Mr. Domingo from the valley, the salesman who took care of me and did an outstanding job. My family and friends have been shopping at Penners now. They have way better manners and great customer service. Thank you!

I never knew I needed a hat from Paris Hatters until I was on my way back home at 3.00 in the morning. The storefront was all of the information I needed. A trip to get back was arranged. I'm not very tall, so standard hats look pretty funny on me. Garrett introduced himself to me, and worked up exactly what I wanted. What a great experience. I loved Johnny Cash's autograph: "Thanks for putting me in the shade." The owners were available to chat while my hat was being worked up. These are the folks you want your money to go to, not some corporate shareholder. Great job! Keep up the fantastic work! Most importantly - THANK YOU!

This establishment has a strict policy of not touching hats, but it’s understandable. Once you have assistance the workers will go above and beyond to help you find a hat. I unfortunately didn’t get the name of the man who helped me, but he had glasses. He explained the shape and said how the hat would go based off my facial features and went ahead and shaped accordingly. This place has excellent service with knowledgeable workers.

I purchased a beautiful hat and had great conversations with the owners. It was like stepping back in time. I loved it.

Had one of the best shopping experiences at Paris Hatters! We waited a year to come to this family run shop knowing we couldn't leave TX without a cowboy hat or two and this would be the one and only place to do that. Alex was absolutely wonderful! She took so much time teaching us about the hats and helping us pick out something that was better than we could have hoped for; and for anyone looking for something unique, Alex does beautiful hand embroidery that I cannot recommend enough!! Thank you to Paris Hatters; shopping as it truly should be; where you are made to feel like family!
