Paris Hatters

Paris Hatters has been around forever. This is not a western wear store but an old school hat store. I was in high school when my aunt took me there to buy a bull riders style cowboy hat with a feathered hat band. You guessed it that was during the Urban Cowboy craze. Since those high school days, I have bought several dress hats and one Cowboy hat. Today, I walked in with my granddaughter she wanted to see the famous Paris Hatters check out the hats and boots. We had a good conversation with a male employee about the famous people that have come to the store and about reshaping my dress hats. Come in and get educated on the many styles of hats they sell.

Buying a hat from Parris Hatters has always been a bucket list item of mine. We were passing through San Antonio headed back to Florida, so I had to jump at the opportunity. Garrett greeted me at the door and helped me through every step of the process. I already had a hat design and color in mind, so Garrett worked his magic and designed a hat perfectly to my specs. Bucket list item checked, and I have a treasure that will pass on to future generations. Thanks again Garrett for a great experience!

This place is great. I like that it's family owned and I met the owners while there. I was a dummy as far as hats go but had an idea what I was looking for. I have been around the city looking at other places and found Paris to have what I was looking for. You definitely won't find cookie cutter hats here. They have a great store with an amazing selection of hats. I learned a lot and bought a beautiful stetson. Great help with sizing and shaping. I said pretty much what I wanted and the guy shaping it knew exactly what to do. He handed it to me and knodded knowing he did a good job. If you like traditional things then you will love this place. Update: after reading some of these 1 star reviews I'm surprised at the people, mostly from out of town, on here bad mouthing this place. If you were mistreated, it was probably your fault, and maybe you just need to practice some manners. And after reading the responses, I think I will be back for a summer hat as well😁. Maybe some boots too.

I’ve got a big head, ain’t no two ways about it. I’ve got a stack of cowboy hats in my house that are a testament to the size of my melon, every one of them sits way up on my head and makes me look like a cartoon character. I came into Paris with no knowledge of its provenance, and not much hope. However, when I came through the front and saw a young man wearing every bit of a 20 gallon hat cocked to the side and sporting a mustache that would make Dale Sr. proud, I was cautiously optimistic. As we began to try on hats to sort out my size Garrett began to lay down the ground rules, he explained to me that the hats won’t look their best till they got a few years on him. He went on to say the reason his hat looked so good was its wear, specifically the hats interactions with with his horse. “I’ve got the one mare, swear ever time I go to feed her it’s the first she ever ate. Every time I’m working on the tractor she wants to act like she got a set of hands. I throw this hat like running her off is my job!” In that moment, I knew I was in good hands. We picked out some hats and Garrett began stretching and shaping. While he was doing his thing the owner Abe came out and began to regale my friend and I with stories and show us photos of all the folks he had fitted with hats. While we were shooting the breeze Garrett was running back and forth getting a perfect fit for my hats. Once we had the fit we talked shape, and got the hat looking exactly how I wanted it. During this time talked about how it can be intimidating to wear a cowboy hat when you aren’t used to it, and the trepidation that my enormous cranium had caused for me. Finally it was time to leave, when I went to put my hat back in the box Abe and Garrett kept out of their chairs and Abe told me “Son you hold your head high and walk out of here with that hat on, and I don’t want you taking it off until you go to bed tonight.” My time at Paris was hands down the best customer service I have ever received. Southern hospitality at its finest. If I ever catch a wild hair and feel the need to get another cowboy hat, I’m not sure I have any choice but to fly across the country and come back.

Absolutely LOVED our authentic experience here buying my first hat! The owner was so accommodating and we enjoyed listening to all the stories of the hundreds of famous people that packed the walls. Aside from the atmosphere and history of the store the buying experience was top notch. They carefully explained the hats (types, sizes, brands). Once I picked my hat it was then specially cut, fitted, and cleaned for me. One of a kind experience.

Nice hat store. Everyone was nice. I was pushed always to the more expensive merchandise, but what store doesn't do that. Overall not a bad place, enjoyed the history of the place.

My hat purchasing experience here was nothing short of amazing. Yhe nostalgia of the building drew me in. I had no intention of buying a hat but my wife encouraged me to try one on. Being from Michigan, I was hesitant to even try on a western style hat but she co tinted her encouragement and the staff helped me find something that was perfect. They asked questions to understand for what purpose I wanted a hat, they took into consideration my face shape, my height and weight (6'2" & 260lbs) and made a couple of suggestions. My wife picked the one she liked (Stetson Silverbelly) and they shaped it to fit me perfectly. I was hesitant because of the price but once again my wife LOVED the hat on me. How could I say no to her? I met Abe, the owner, as I was getting the hat fitted and shaped. He is a kind and humble man. It was only through our conversation and, me asking, that I figured out he was the owner. The whole experience in this store was outstanding. I wear this hat regularly, even here in Michigan, as it looks good, is comfortable and provides outstanding coverage for sun, rain and snow. I couldn't be happier with my experience at the Paris Hatter.

I purchased two expensive hats from this shop at a premium price, which I found later to be overpriced compared to retail. Recently, I had to order a specific model (El Presidente) because it wasn't in stock, and they didn’t offer to place the order for me. Once the hat arrived, I decided to have them shape it, but they wanted to charge me a very high price for that service. I recommend taking your business elsewhere, as they do not seem to value repeat customers or good business.

We were recommended by a friend to come by this shop, and we were apprehensive to stop in due to other reviews. I’m so glad we didn’t listen to them!! I really enjoyed the service & help we received in this store. I think it’s genuinely a good thing they don’t let every customer that walks in the door handle the hats, it helps them stay in good condition for those who purchase them. The ladies & gents that run the store know their stuff, and were very helpful in helping me design a hat custom to my liking.

Wonderful experience with the guys at Paris Hatters. They were friendly, knowledgeable and have great customer service. They have a very wide selection of hats and even some boots. My husband got a custom fitted (not sure the right phrase) hat and it was truly a memorable experience for us, thank you!
