F.H. Steinbart Co. is where I have been getting my little 20 oz CO2 tanks for my Primo carbonator filled. Great service, and a store full of products for wine making and home beer brewing. +++NEW EDIT++ About 6 months ago I took my 20 oz Primo CO2 tanks in to be refilled and they refused! Good for them. My 20 oz tanks were expired and needed to be safety certified. The only company in town that certifies CO2 tanks said NO. I returned to F. E. Steinbart Co. and purchased the 5 lb carbonating kit. 5 lb tank, connectors, hose, regulator with gauges, and inline shut off valve. Also a carbonator cap that fits on 2 liter pop bottles. Now I can carbonate anything in a plastic pop bottle, even ice tea. (Primo and Soda Stream can only carbonate plain water and flavors are added later, and yes, I violated the Primo instructions and tried to carbonate tea. That was a scary mess.) I have been using this set up several times a week for about 6 months and still have CO2 left.
Came in very inexperienced! But Jeff had all the answers made it super simple for us to get our very first set up going!! Thanks Jeff
I’ve been buying my homebrewing ingredients and supplies here since around 2012. I really like their draught department for kegging equipment.
They're have a lot of things though need either for being or for related tasks. I stopped by ro get Star San, a concentrated acid based sanitizer, which I wil use in an off label use. I'm dissolving a painted on bottle label off the bottle doo I can reuse the glass bottle for something else. Friendly, knowledgable staff, nice big inventory. Lots of knowledge and expertise.
I can not recommend this place more highly to my fellow brewer's! They have great customer service and selection. This is also one of the only place to buy Mecca grade malt my hands down favorite ingredient.
My Tap Service started getting supplies from Steinbarts in the early 90's. We have always been able to count on them to help us with any problems. They are one of the few Companies that has a broad spectrum of items and that seems not to practice JIT Inventory. Meaning they always seem to have plenty of product on hand when you show up/need it....... Not, well gee the last one just was sold before you got there.
I am nothing but impressed with my order/experience. Excellent customer service, packaging, and communication. Will definitely be using them again for my homebrewing needs.
Went in today to check out their bottle collection for my Kombucha brewing and holy cow these guys have everything and then some! One guy was really helpful in helping me decide which ones would be best for how I brew and super friendly! Very reasonable prices too! Try ordering anything glass online and you will pay an arm and a leg in shipping plus this keeps the business local! :) (I had went somewhere in Beaverton which I shall not say, but because I'm a female I felt totally ignored and the Beaverton place had a "bro" vibe to it (ick), I will definitely continue my business with FH Steinbart in the future and refer anyone I know to that store who wants to brew as well
I don't agree with most of the criticisms about the staff. My main problem is their limited hours. Open til 1PM on SAT and closed on SUN is not so great for us 9-5ers. I'll probably keep getting most of my stuff online for now, but I will come back if I need something in a pinch.
Steinbarts continues to be Portland's best stocked and friendly beer industry parts and materials distributor. Simple needed new beer faucet gaskets. They treated me as important making me feel valued as a customer, only spending $3.00!
