They have all the supplies a home winemaker could ever need and the gentleman providing service here are a wealth of knowledge. I wish I had discovered this place sooner, only having learned about them after U-brew recently closed down.

This is the coolest store! You don’t even have to be into brewing beer. They have kits to make cheese, yogurt, and all kinds of fermented items. I went to pick up acids for my bar and they were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Great place to just look around and be inspired.
I have visited most home brew shops in Portland and Vancouver, and Steinbart is the best in my opinion. Great selection of grains and yeast, and very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Also the only one I've found so far that carries Mecca Grade Estate grains from Madras which is my favorite.
Despite a fantastic experience getting a birthday gift together for my husband, picking up the gift was a bit challenging. Had to return to the store twice for items d/t miscommunication and incorrect equipment. One of the store members was also rude on the phone -- have gone elsewhere for beer equipment.
Venerable established brew shop with pretty much everything you'd ever need to make fine beer or wine. Tons of selection, knowledgeable and helpful staff, and quick corner-side pick up designed to accommodate covid era shopping. Always a great place to go for brewing/vinting supplies, and currently providing same-day pick up, or 24 hour to 48 hour delivery. Great place to go for brewing questions and supplies.
I've been here twice and they've been consistently informative, sociable & thoughtful about guiding me with my various non-spirit related projects hair brained ideas. Some guy reviewed them saying they're all snooty. I can't help but think he's just a bit too cool for school or puts out a pompous vibe, himself. Who can say? I really don't think the mentally healthy customer would consider 3.9 stars appropriate, especially given their stock.
Can't say enough good about these folks. I'm getting started with home brewing, which means I have a LOT of questions - without fail, everyone I meet in person or talk to on the phone is friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, helpful. Great prices and selection round out the experience. They've been around as long as they have for a reason.
I can't compare Steinbart's to other brew shops because I've never gone anywhere else. They pretty much always have what I need & lots to explore that I don't need, too. The staff are nice people who always find the time to find something, help with a decision, or troubleshoot a problem. Awesome!
5/1/2020 Update: Unfortunately I'm revising my review. I placed an order on Monday and I have not yet received it. Nor do I know when it'll be delivered. I called on Thursday afternoon and was advised that they would need to make some substitutions. I don't mind making substitutions at all, but it would have been helpful to have let me know vs calling to find out. As of this afternoon, I still do not know when to expect my order. 😕 Being stuck in the house means that I'm brewing a whole lot more than I had been. And Steinbarts has made it so easy. I just go online, order my ingredients and within a couple of days, my order is in a box on my front porch. They mill my grains and they'll place them in individually packed bags with super clear labels. No need to guess what is what. And they even add cold packs to keep my yeast cool. Great job, Steinbarts! Thanks!
