Disappointing produce, at prices almost comparable to Whole Foods. Last Saturday evening, I even noticed a box of strawberries with white mold growing on them. This Safeway location in general looks understaffed and poorly maintained, likely due to ongoing issues with theft and security concerns. Especially if you need to shop at night, Metropolitan Market down the street is quite more expensive, but doesn’t feel as unsafe.
Just a grocery store like all stores has its sale days come and go. On a good sale day the big jug of liquid tide free 6.99 and downey same price.
Freezers are locked and no one comes for the call button. Rotten food is frequently on shelves. Unfortunately the only other grocery store nearby is prohibitively expensive so essentials are frequently necessary to purchase here. Page, the manager is rude as well. 0/10. Will be moving to another neighborhood so that I never have to enter this place again.
The first star is entirely earned by Ben in the Pharmacy. He is a gem with the utmost level of professionalism and soft manners and demeanor. The second star is earned for their organization, cleanliness and layout of this small storefront. I've noticed post-pandemic that they're really trying to keep the store clean, freshly stocked and looking bright. But they lose the rest of the points for the way they treat their customers and especially at their Starbucks stand. Employees at this Safeway do not know how to make a single Starbucks drink correctly and when you ask them to kindly adjust or remake, they will give you the stinkiest attitude. They will not honor Just4U coupons at their Starbucks or the store check-out even though you show them right there from your app that it isn't expired and fully active. The staff had the nerve to tell me that it must be an expired coupon as if an app can't update correctly 🤯 on the latest and greatest phone and with the expiry listed right there on the digital coupon for them to see and consider. I mean what rubbish. Sadly, they seem to treat every single customer as if they're going to rob the place and will touch your shopping bags when you're supposed to still social distance. Even if you have the receipt 🧾 hanging out like you would at Costco, they'll still treat you like a criminal instead of focusing on the real zombies not those that are coming in after a long days work for water and meds from the pharmacy. Beware that shoppers will place their carts banged up against your car in the parking lot underneath. They don't have a care to place carts in the proper return area. Several times I've seen a cart against my car, hitting it when leaving, unfortunately. The parking lot is dirty and smelly as well. Be kind and helpful to your loyal patrons Uptown Safeway and take a chill pill. Maybe learn a few pointers from Ben on how to treat your good customers with appreciation and respect. UPDATED TO 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 They hired a new checker lady and I forget to get her name but she is so delightful and so very good at her job! I love all the sales that Safeway has and more Perks and Rewards with the Safeway App. Thank you Uptown Safeway for your improved patience and for hiring the most amazing checkers. Keep up the great work! ************************************** No more Starbucks here and the store has been updated. It's getting better and better!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Highly recommend. Please bring more organic produce though. Thanks!
i don’t want to be mean but this place is a dump. i used to walk by daily to grab food for dinner but between the people loitering outside asking for money, the birds in the parking lot, the bird pee smell mixed with bubblegum scent from the cleaning solution, the whole place is griney and just feels unsafe. it’s sad :/ BUT a new one just opened on top of the hill and i hope the security and cleanliness is up kept there ! everyone is also right about the ROTTING produce it’s majority of what’s on the shelves it’s baffling . i don’t feel comfortable buying produce form here AT ALL id rather buy it from the gas station
Good parking, okay selection. My favorite items are frequently out of stock which can be frustrating, especially because this is a small store with not a lot of alternate options. The staff is wonderful, but there are not enough of them. It's not uncommon for only one lane to be open for checkout, forcing you into self checkout, even with a full cart. Last time I went in there were NO full service lines open. I don't mind using self checkout when I only have a few items, but if I'm going to be scanning and bagging a full cart of groceries I should be getting an employee discount.
I have never seen a grocery store have so much rotten food on the shelves. The meat is constantly gray and old. I always find produce that’s moldy and rotten. Really disappointed. The workers are always very nice, but that’s the only good thing I can say about the store.
The good: 1. Close to space needle 2. Nice bakery section 3. Reasonable variety of items 4. Decent prices (as compared to metropolitan market) 5. Handicap accessible The bad: 1. The people. Some of the most inconsiderate people shop here. They leave items that require refrigeration on non-refrigerated shelves seemingly everywhere and all of the time (do they not care about waste or the employees?), instead of just placing the item back where it goes. They bring their large dogs in, allowing them to bark and snarl on the regular, all while majorly getting in the way. Many people who shop here also are fine, but those who trash the store up are high on my list of reasons to dislike the location. 2. I bought blue cheese at this location last week and the cheese was expired by 3 months? Genuinely have no idea how this managed to happen, it's almost amusing. 3. The produce is often beginning to decay. I don't know anything about how grocery stores maintain their fresh items, but this location seems to have difficulty with it. 4. I bought a parfait here last month and one portion of it tasted exactly like mold... yeesh.
The worst Safeway within 50 miles. Been shopping there for 40+ year's and it keeps getting worse. No checkers, employees don't know where anything is, never a manager they just say duh ? Fire em all, start with people that know what their doing.
Horrible produce quality is one thing, but the customer service at this location is ridiculous. It's as if every employee is missing a few marbles. I am constantly overcharged for things that are "on sale" and the change I receive is always miscounted. I shop here because it's convenient but honestly this store irritates me beyond measure! Be better! Hire better!
