I am a full-time working, married, mother of four. I volunteer on our local Relay For Life committee throughout the year. I also teach the toddler Sunday school class at our church during the spring and fall. Throw in kids' sports and activities - my schedule is a little busy. Finding the time to further my education and show my family and children that bettering yourself can be done no matter what limitations you think you face seemed impossible. University of Phoenix showed me the way. I am one year away from graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration. UoP keeps their classes well-structured and engaging. They are never so overwhelming that you feel defeated. Being able to focus on one class at a time makes it easier for me to balance my life while I secure a better future for our family. For that I am grateful.
Working towards my bachelor's in Information Technology, and am having a great experience. To those complaining about doing a few hours of coursework a week, you do realize you're working towards a college degree, correct? You think you can do an hour and be done? You'd never make it as a full-time, on-campus student that's for sure.
The UOP online college is #1 to me. I have already received my Associates Degree in Business from here and only have 3 courses left to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Business Entrepreneurship. They make learning so easy and fun. The professors and staff are the best they really care about their students needs.
Allison Cota is great and even tho she’s fairly new she gets the job done and can do others job with less knowledge than them.. on the other hand if you get benefits especially from the VA make sure they report all days your in class.. with certificates they don’t report the last 6 days so they say so it’ll effect your monthly payments on top of the “new” regulations the VA have you to do in order to get your money… be mindful they will take just about ALL your loan money and lie about why they took it.. also even though your classes are showing up paid for you’ll be stuck taking 1 class at a time unless you pay extra 🤦🏽♂️. They do not respect Trans people with their names nor pronouns .. again be mindful!!
I am really grateful for my experience and support that I received at the University of Phoenix. The support staff was always knowledgeable, caring, informative and available to guide me in the right direction to accomplish my dreams and helping me graduate. There were a few stumbles along the way like health and family issues as is life, but the staff was always available to support my needs, and help me over these life hurdles. Attending as an online student, UoP made every learning environment a successful one. Almost all my classes had wonderful instructors and students from all over the United States. Lessors were clear, discussions were always interesting and I really learned so much not only about the class but about real life experiences. I was able to apply what I learned to a multiple of careers. Over the years each day became easier, the work wasn’t always easy but the daily routine of attending class, submitting assignments and taking test was like second nature. Advisors didn’t let you fall threw the cracks. Until the very last class and even after that they called or emailed with “this is what’s next”. My entire adult education from Associates to dual Masters was with UoP. I can say with pride that every time I see a commercial for UoP, tears comes to my eyes because “I am a Phoenix”.
This is the worse school ever. It was ok when they offered campus classes and you could actually see someone. I have had issues from academics to financial aide. I have heard everything from sorry they are out on vacation to your account is on review for a manager for the last 18 months. You don’t have an assigned finance counselor and the academic counselor does not call you to check in or anything. Teachers don’t even respond to questions in a timely manner in order for you to be able to complete an assignment appropriately. Just don’t waste your money or your time!!!
The University of Phoenix actually helps to educate those who otherwise would not have the advantage of a college education. They start at the beginning and provide the building blocks for the student to move from one class to the next as they acquire the necessary skills to develop critical thinking, writing, math, and specialty skills. Although many believe the school is 'fake', I can assure you that the materials are genuinely well-designed and thought-provoking. There are many different types of people who attend the University; however, there is no way the undeserving could continue to move through the process and eventually obtain a degree. The people who are not willing to work hard and devote at least 3-4 hours per day to their schoolwork are not going to continue to stay in class for long. Those who do persevere have worked very hard to go through the University process, usually while maintaining a full-time job and with families. They are to be commended for the tenacity and work ethic.
Luckily, my academic and financial counselors were fully engaged from beg til end. When I first started my general study course, my instructor told me time management is the key to success as an online student. It worked! Also, the sources are accessible 24-hours. For instance, the university library, etc. As a result, I emerged as a better writer, student and personally evolved. Even though some teams and groups became very challenging, I remained on course to obtaining my goals. I understand that a portion of students do not share the same experience. On a few occassions, I wanted to give up, but I chose to hang in and graduate. I thought I would attend graduate school at Temple, Drexel or Wharton, but I chose to remain as a MBA student. Overall, I agree that it is important to be in a learning environment where you can grow, and build trustworthy relationships with classmates, faculty, and administration.
Overall, fantastic University that is never given the credit they deserve! Over the four years I have been enrolled I have had so much support and help from staff that I didn’t receive elsewhere. The staff are phenomenal, they genuinely care about your education and what life holds for you after graduation.
If only I could warn everyone about this school, even though they should never be referred to as such. I completed 57 credits and somehow managed to accumulate over $50,000 in student loans, not including my out of pocket expenses. I was consistently lied to about the loans and now I'm so far in debt that there is no end in sight. The enrollment officers are not well trained and provide false information. The academic and financial advisors also hide the truth. Numerous complains were made by myself and others in regards to instructors and academics throughout my time their but with little mediation. Out of the 57 credits only 14 transferred, which intelligence is not an issue as I'm a 4.0 GPA student at my other school, which is actually academically credible. The school lies to obtain government money and preys upon lower income individuals. You will struggle to find a job with any degree you obtain from here as the quality of education is comparable to a primary level. Often teachers do not meet the necessary requirements and standards to teach classes so we played a lot of games in class. Tests are never actually given, except a few online ones for math. Teachers hand other student papers to other class member to grade, what's the point of paying the teacher if the students are doing their job. If you like writing papers that mean absolutely nothing and not actually read by most teachers than this school is for you. What can you really expect to learn in 5 weeks and still wonder why you cant get a job after attending UOP. When you do need to transfer good luck getting those transcripts as the school does everything in their power to delay that process. Almost a month now, many emails and phone calls and still no response to the documents I need to transfer properly, go figure. Society needs to do itself a favor and ban and discredit this "business" as it is a complete waste of time and massive amounts of money. Almost 10 years later and I still cant get back on my feet because of this school. Additionally, All my account history/payments has been "archived" after I made a BBB complaint and was told I need to sign consent forms to receive this information. I also was placed on a do not email list, even though they have been emailing me to in reference to a syllabus but wont for my payment history. No wonder it is such a joke. Did I forget to mention this a school you can cheat to get through because guess what a fellow student got caught plagiarizing and the school received complaints but took no measures to reprimand that student by any means. Numerous complaints were made but that student still received an A. Sadly this institution gives a bad name and creates a fear for others who wish to pursue higher education. There is a reason many celebrities, tv shows, and comedians out there publicly make fun of the school. Do yourself a favor and jump in a giant hole before you attend this school, same principle. Go to a real school, start at a community college, apply yourself, get legitimate funding and receive an education worth paying for. I also made other complaints through the dispute management a while back that were rather significant but they were ignored/brushed to the side.
