Coffee is average so I suppose that's worth a star. Clientele are obnoxious, prissy and uptight. Staff a bit snobby but they will take your order. Avoid the pastries... Much better options five minutes away on Capitol Hill.
Ordered a breakfast sandwich to go, heated up. The edges were warm, the center was frozen. Like actually frozen. $12 for a tiny frozen breakfast sandwich is a joke.
For the love of god please hire another or a better barista. Took over 15min to get a coffee at 1pm on a Sunday, with less than five people in line. I love this place but the wait time is starting to outweigh the quality.
A bit disappointing. The croissants are not authentic French croissants, spicy shrimps had a good sauce but the shrimps were overcooked, and my wife's duck confit salad had 3 tiny pieces of duck and not so fresh salad. The atmosphere was pleasant and they played nice music.sitting on the patio on a summer day made me feel a bit as if I was in France.
Fire turkey sandwich, a little sweet but very tasty
French bakery? Nah. French service? Yes! Staff has very little interest in customer satisfaction. Price is high for quality and poor service. No matter how many places you plaster “Belle Epicurean” in pretentious fonts, it doesn’t make a mediocre experience or product better. The raspberry curd cake (of course labeled in fancy French lettering) was disgustingly sweet & tasted slightly like cough syrup. Stay away, they won’t mind locking the door behind you before they close! Better places to go: Bakery nouveau
If you're ever feeling down on your luck and you need to change your life in some way... Walk into the doors of Belle Epicurean and order the S'mores Cookie. Upon digestion, everything should be just fine.
Bummed. Really wanted to like this place. But I can’t really say anything is working for this place other than the location. The quiche was soggy, the pastries dry, the coffee was burnt, and the staff was pretty over it. I don’t give out 2 stars often but I’m hoping the owner of this place can help turn some things around. Would be great to have a French bakery in the neighborhood that we could return to!
Zero stars isn't an option, so one will have to do. I ordered online since the location was close to us and they offered delivery. That was not the case, no delivery. That wasn't an issue so I opted to pickup. They were out of some items, but were willing to substitute, also not an issue and they did at least call me. When I arrived to pickup my order the two or three employees seemed very confused on what to package and where. Nobody was rude or negative in any way, but they just seemed to have little to no awareness. They really couldn't communicate to each other to box it up togo. All of the items, including breakfast sandwiches were simply in a pastry case to be either reheated upon request or had room temperature. Do not expect ANY QUALITY. The baked goods are clearly frozen mass produced items. The eggs resemble something closer to furniture slip mats. Even a McD egg looks more like a real egg. All of the other baked items were sad excuses for anything a bakery would produce. Had I walked in to order first I would be less upset as I simply wouldn't have purchased anything but a bottle of wine to take away. However I had ready paid online and what was done was done. Got it all home to reheat and was even more disappointing than previously thought. Save your money for another option.
A poor customer service. Order was ignored on an easy late morning for almost 45 mins and upon reminder, it was served but spinach quiche was ice cold. The Americano was the same as if it was just a mixture of leftover coffee and some hot water. Despite of paying for oat milk substitute, received just the black coffee.
