Terrible service. No one answers phones Emails are automated replies that “Xx” is out of the office??!!??! Update: 7/24/25 - once I knew about the specifics, the turnaround was very quick with 5 star service! Communication is the key.
Unfortunately my experience with this entity has been very poor as a Physician Assistant. Renewing my licensure was a huge obstacle. The online renewal would not allow me to login so I thought a simple phone call or email would resolve the issue. For weeks I could not get through to anyone in charge of PA license renewals, via phone or email. If Rhonda Thomas still works here, you will not get through to her. Her voicemail is full and she will not respond to your emails. I did speak with Sonya Scandrett who, before I could finish my sentence, told me she couldn't help me because she only handled NEW PA applications. Again, I asked her to get me through to someone who could help me. She gave me two additional numbers. Sharlene Hooks (this number and email was not active) and David Harris. I called and left voice messages and emails without any response from Mr. Harris. I eventually had to drive an hour to their office in Atlanta in hopes of resolving this issue. When I arrived a nice woman asked me to sign in and what I was there for. She asked for my license number and said to wait a moment. She typed in my license number and within a second she pulled up my account. She asked me to review the information and I quickly saw the issue, my last name and DOB were not correct. How this was input incorrectly is beyond my understanding because the initial application had all of my correct information. A problem this minuscule to fix could have been addressed by anyone at GCMB, it was a matter of looking up 5 numbers (my medical license). I thank the nice woman who helped me resolve the issue today. As medical professionals we spend our lives caring for others and without licensure we cannot do that. I truly hope this organization will find employees who understand the importance of their jobs and have empathy for health/medical professionals trying to keep theirs. To those in charge of PA license renewals, please answer your phone, empty your voicemail box, and respond to emails in a timely manner.
Twice over the years I have had major issues with getting my license renewed. The first time they stated they never got the application despite my having a fax confirmation showing it was received on their end. Of course, it took a dozen phone calls and emails over several weeks to get any sort of resolution. While here we are again. I tried to renew online but the website wouldn't let me make a payment. The button to "pay now" simply didn't appear on the renewal page. I emailed only to get an email back about a week later showing my issue had been forwarded to someone else in their office who promptly ignored my email and never answered it. I left multiple messages and never got a call back. Finally got in touch with someone who said I had to send in a check because my application was already submitted. So I did (not even asking why I still couldn't pay online). Here it is 20days later and I still have not received my license. Not sure who the boss is there but they need to be fired. Horrible customer service, massive, chronic disorganization, completely unprofessional, despite extracting thousands and thousands in licensing fees from medical practitioners
I have read all these reviews and mine is the same. Applied for my NP protocol agreement in November 2023. My forms and check hand delivered, check cashed, no response about my protocol agreement. I decided to drive down this am and resubmit a second application and talk with someone personally so that I can get some follow up. I have applied for me DEA, paid $888 and nothing! More to come from me after I drive down myself!
I live in a different state and have never practiced medicine in Georgia. However, I obtained a license in case I choose to do so. When I first went to renew my license, I called the Board since the process was new to me, and the Board told me it was too soon and that they would reach out to me when it was time to renew. (In my home state, I am either e-mailed a notice or mailed a notice when it is time to renew). Well the Georgia Board never did such a thing, nor did they ever call me or communicate in any other manner. So one day I decided to go online and try to renew and by that time it was late. Thus, I was forced to pay something like a $250 late fee for renewing less than 30 days after my license expired. (That was about the same price as the license). I reached back out to the Board, left several voicemail messages which were never returned, and did not finally got in touch with a person until several months later when I sent a certified letter. I explained how they had given me instructions to wait until I heard from them but they failed to reach back out to me, and I asked if they would remove the exorbitant late fee. They took my request to a committee and basically came back and told me "no", "too bad, so sad." "It is not our responsibility to keep our word and reach out to you like we promised" and "now we are going to collect twice as much money from you, a newly licensed GA physician, than anyone else." This is not verbatim what they said but it is the essence. Thus, I feel taken advantage of, lied to, and quite disappointed.
This office does not even deserve a single star. Just as the other comments state, no one answers a phone and rarely answers an email. Our tax dollars are paying state workers not to do their job, and even worse, Georgia requires a supervising physician for nurse practitioners but does not follow up with making this process viable. Absolutely unacceptable! Nurses work very hard for patients and do not have time to travel across the state to make sure this office is doing their job. - Kelsey Smith (RN for 14 years and NP for 8 years).
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I had the pleasure of interacting with Brianna from the Georgia Composite Medical Board, and her service was nothing short of exceptional. She went above and beyond to assist me, showing remarkable professionalism, efficiency, and kindness throughout the process. Her dedication to her work truly stands out, and I am so grateful for her help. Brianna, thank you for your outstanding service—it made all the difference.
I applied in June and it’s now October. I understand there is a process for licensure however, the lack of communication is not acceptable. Haven’t been able to get a update from anyone via call, email, or website. I was able to speak w/ one person via call and that wasn’t any help bc I was instructed by the licensure specialist to email my paperwork directly to her only to not get a response. The application check has been cashed but, I’m not listed on the GCMB list. The application process is definitely in need of improvement. Update: It’s now January and still not on the list. No one answer calls or respond to emails. Driving to the office to get communication as this is the last resort. Update 1/12/2023-Today, I went to the office. As we all suspected they are severely short staff (1 person doing multiple jobs). I was able to speak to someone in person to get a update on my application. Long story short, I left w/a printed approval letter. Thanks, Dawonna and Anita for the assistance.
Today, I had the privilege of receiving assistance from Ms. Rhonda C. Thomas, Customer Service Specialist/Operations Specialist of the Georgia Composite Medical Composite Board. She is a professional who renders exceptional customer service and shares her extensive knowledge. I am very grateful for her commitment to excellence and resolving my concerns promptly.
Ketonya Reynolds was great! She answered emails promptly and helped this MD get my license renewed on my own for the first time without hospital/ practice manager assistance. She directed me to the proper parties and included them in emails QUICKLY. My license was renewed in under 30 days!
