They didn't have enough cars making people wait despite having reservations. The car I got was very filthy with food stains and they charged me $150 cleaning fee. I notice the car was filthy when I got it, but this location didn’t have enough vehicles when I arrived and about 20 people were waiting the cars. The only reason I didn’t have to wait long for a car is I booked an EV, and only one Model 3 was available at that time so I didn’t want to complain about the dirtiness and wait for a long time. I noticed when I got to hotel, my pants and jacket got nasty food stains from the car, and I had to handwash them...

Yeah it's always kind of chaotic here. We've never had a bad experience, exactly, but if you rent with any frequency, you kind of become more familiar with the process than the staff and that makes the rental experience feel sluggish and annoying every time, which is the last thing you want after a long flight. The selection is hit or miss but we've never been stuck with a bad car, it's just so oppressively mediocre.

I just picked up my rental from the Boston Logan location and wanted to give a shout-out to Edly C. We got there pretty late and weren’t sure what would be available, but Edly took the time to walk around the lot and even went all the way to the far end just to find us a car in great condition. He didn’t just hand us whatever was closest. He genuinely put in the effort to make sure we were happy with what we got. That kind of attention really makes a difference, especially after a long travel day.

I'd leave 0 but it won't let me ... I got an email invoice for $800. It's false claiming I had the car 5 days. I rented it in CLE Hopkins Airport and drove 10 straight hours to BOS Logan Airport. Car was dropped off on 1/24 at Logan Airport at 22:11 (I have pictures of the car AND the display which INCLUDES the car license plate in front of me). They show it as 650 miles - Google Maps says that drive is 653 miles. I have pictures showing the vehicle in the drop off area where NO HERTZ PERSONNEL were present and signs indicated renters should leave keys in the car and receipt would be emailed. In addition I entered the Central Parking Garage in the rental around 21:45 to enable me to drop off my possessions at my own vehicle in that garage. Lastly there appears to be a scanner upon entry to the rental return garage which should provide additional evidence of the car's arrival at Logan airport. It is HERTZ's failure that the car was not processed for several days.

You'd think that when renting a car in New England during the winter they'd supply you with a snow brush. Not my Hertz rental. With a blizzard approaching after I'd had the car for a week, I ran to buy one. By the end of February they're sold out, but a got a great extendable bathtub brush which I used twice then gave away. Also, it was not cool to run out of windshield washing fluid on the Interstate in the aftermath of a blizzard. At least they haven't hit me up for toll payments yet like they have on my last two rentals, even though I bring my own EZ Pass transponder. The toll people treat you like a criminal if you dispute them.

Reservation process is good. Pickup process is a nightmare. Billing is a nightmare. Cars are ok when you get the car you reserved. Reservation process is ok. We did it on priceline. We received quick confirmation emails and everything was ok 👍. Pickup process is a nightmare. One time they didn't have the car we reserved and we had to pay more for another car they had. They (Hertz) are understaffed and the employees they have are rude and/or they don't care and they threaten you with not able to pick up your car if you complain about anything. I understand that it's not their fault that they don't have the cars people reserved but their attitude is poor. Understaffed at the pickup counter resulting in long wait times to pick up your car at the end of long journeys when you and your children are exhausted and crying 😢. Pickup: Links that Hertz itself sent me via email and text, that supposedly will help me select a car and skip the counter, did NOT WORK. I tried repeatedly and was unsuccessful. Did the online checkin, validated my driver's license, validated my credit card 💳 and still had to wait at the counter. Only one employee at the counter. Was overcharged repeatedly and had to call customer service for a refund, which, up to this point they did, but it's frustrating and time consuming to keep calling customers service for a refund. At this point I think it's a strategy from rental cars to overcharge customers, and if you don't call back to complain, they just keep the money. Cars were ok although we had to switch one car because it was not cleaned. Oil change message on the dashboard. Another customer complained there was a check engine light on their car. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the cars are somewhat new but the process is a nightmare. Hate renting cars.

Had an wonderful experience with both pickup and return thanks to representatives Ashley and Flo, respectively. Both women were personable, efficient and extremely helpful to me as someone navigating travel by myself with two kids under 6YO -- treated me like I was a valued customer (and human!).

Rented a car as part of a bundle with our flight. We're given a Tesla which I thought was cool. The interior of the car was pretty run down, but I could ignore the peeling leather on the steering wheel for the price. About 30 minutes into our trip we noticed there was no heat (it was below freezing outside). There was a warning on the menu too that heat was out and there were faults with other sensors. Might have noticed sooner if we were more familiar with the car. We called Hertz and told them the issue. We couldn't drive this car for a week in Massachusetts' winter. They told us to drive the car back and we would get a replacement. Then they told us we needed to charge the car or we would be billed. I argued that we shouldn't have to pay for the privilege of driving a broken car in a circle, but they wouldn't budge. Not only that, they charged us extra for a subcompact because it was outside the deal with Delta AND they charged a transfer fee on top of it. That's pretty much that. Hertz didn't honor us with a working car and made us pay them to fix the issue after wasting our time. I don't enjoy feeling cheated. I'll happily pay a little more next time I rent a car just so no more of my money goes to Hertz. (We were parked for the photo)

Arrived at my reservation time and was told it would be at least 45 minutes of waiting unless I was willing to “upgrade” for $58/day. If they have cars available, they shouldn’t make their customers wait and hold the hostage with an upgrade. It’s their terrible management that the car I reserved isn’t ready on time. There are about 20 people already fully checked in and just waiting for a car

My wife, travelling alone, spent over an hour trying to find the entrance to the Budget rental return. Almost at her breaking point, she went to Hertz to try to find directions. One of the staff kindly drove her to the rental return. This is the level of humanity and compassion want a business to have. We've become customers for life.
