Reviews 100
The parking lot is filthy as other reviews mentioned it. It is true that you smell urine, vomit and feces. Even you can see it on the floor. The smell of the parking lot is like pig manure. That is the smell, and I am not exaggerating. I will never come again to this store. The parking lot is a biohazard. I am surprised that they have not done anything after some reviews. I have never seen a parking so gross like this one.
Small local store that's well stocked has additional parking.
Ah, Upper QA Safeway. You lulled me into a false sense of security. Compared to Lower QA, this place is large, clean, well-staffed. But you'll still get rotten produce if you're not sharp-eyed and suspicious as a granny. I was deceived by this week's BOGO. Beware the Halos! They are green or squishy and rotten.
Free underground parking garage is great. Selection is pretty good for such a compact store. Friendly staff and much less expensive than Metropolitan Market. The lines can be long at peak times so plan your shopping trip well. It could use some self-checkout machines to remedy the slow checkout times.
There is simply no way to bring the cart of groceries down to the car! The elevators and cart escalator are all labeled "broken." Today I asked several employees to help an elderly client of mine with a large cart of groceries get to the garage. Two blatantly ignored me, one said they didn't know. The service providers and actual mechanical service not being provided is why I rank 2 stars for the huge inconveniences. I believe you have to walk outside and down a wheelchair ramp with the cart, so best to shop here only if you need a small basket.
I will avoid buying any bakery products which has sugar. Muffins, cakes etc are full of sugar. There is no taste of actual product like for e.g. blueberry sliced loaf it does not taste as blueberry instead it has only one taste sugar and flour which is not baked very well.
Typical day where the security guard thinks he can put his hands on people and tackle them for theft of a sandwich. I’ve seen this same security guard talk poorly to woman purely because they’re homeless. The “security” they’ve hired to “protect” their losses from an already over priced and poorly managed grocery store, are merely just a bunch of friends that are smoking weed together in the parking lot and following people around the store … and apparently talking them and following them down the block. I can see this all happening from my balcony. I am absolutely sick of this poorly ran store in our neighborhood and hope it gets fixed quickly
This supermarket is located at the basement of a quite historical building (at least old style) near a few famous tourist attractions so it is like a hidden gem for budget travellers & locals. Seafood are almost significantly cheaper than PIKE Place Market. Though the low prices are basically the same as other Safeways, the freshness of crabs I bought wasa bit less than those Safeways in Concord & Napa. Instead of fancy dear restaurants near the Space Needle, cold seafood is the crack for the backpackers to have simple luxury nutritious meal with drinks in their accommodation or in the parks. Here also has lots of inexpensive alcohol for drunkies too.
Nice clean store. Helpful staff. Kind of spendy if you're on a budget though.
I depend on honest reviews as part of my decision process when I've got a choice of suppliers. I've read most of the reviews on here and haven't discovered a particular pattern calling for an immediate action. I've shopped here occasionally but much prefer my current semi-weekly delivery service from both whole foods and Trader Joe's. Fresh and priced fairly and the bonus is missing out on the jive-takin naturals and I don't even miss the regular shoplifters.
