Safeway

For the most part I enjoy shopping at this Safeway location. It's usually pretty clean and most of the staff are pleasant and helpful, except Jeff, who refused to manually enter the digital coupon price when asked by a co-worker because the scanner in the app wasn't functioning. I then had to go to another check stand and stand in line again. It was the worst display of customer service I had ever experienced. Lately, the shelves have not been well stocked either. Some of the crew are more aggressive and not so polite about getting people out of the store for closing time. They haven't had the self-checkout lanes open at night like they used to. I've been in the store at 830 -9:00 and they have them shut down already. UPDATE: I have noticed a dramatic improvement since I submitted my previous posts with pretty much all my complaints and comments addressed in a positive way. Someone actually listened, and that is commendable and much appreciated 🌞 - thank you 👍🏻

It's a Safeway, so the management/hq has decided to rely too much on self checkout, but drive up is always staffed by delightful people Like Chris. Never had any issues with anything Chris has picked for me; no moldy fruit or veggies, everything always cold as needed. Chris is not the only one who is absolutely stellar, but I am ashamed I cannot remember any other name at the moment. The lovely person with perfect eyeliner is always pleasant to interact with, and I have no complaints about their work either.

Great selection of produce, home care, organic options and hot food bar/deli. With our new remodeled Meat and Seafood Department makes finding essential protein much easier than before. Also we have more security measures and loss prevention personnel to keep our location Safe. Please stop in when you can to make Safeway on Lovejoy your Primary shopping destination, as our Deals and Rewards in the Safeway app are highly competitive and or beat any other grocery store in the area. The key is to PROPERLY CLIP deals and coupons in the APP AND SCAN the EXCLUSIVE IN-STORE BAR CODED DEALS WITH the App or QR CODE SCANNER. This Safeway store is located in the heart of the Pearl District, just opposite a streetcar stop. It is a well-stocked store, very lively. The staff are pleasant and friendly

I love this location for the convenience and really nice design on the outside. But more importantly, I found so many new snacks here that I couldn’t find at other branches. Great snacks!

Love the floral dept. The gal there does a wonderful job with her displays. The security staff does a great job in keeping the peace. My experience with this Safeway was the same. Floral depart is in fall colors n very beautiful. Security was rite on a disturbance with a dog aggressively barking at the front door as well as blocking the entrance. They r very efficient

This 5 star review is specifically for the Drive Up and Go staff at the Portland, OR Lovejoy store, specifically Dustin and Christopher, whom go above and beyond on every order I've ever placed. And I apologize if there is anyone else involved, but they seem to be the ones that always are directly helping me, or picking and packing my orders. They are fast, efficient, extremely helpful and seem to truly care about the needs of the customer. I am wheelchair bound, so this service is extremely useful for me. Now, I don't have to balance a hand basket filled with milk cartons and produce on my lap as I try to retrieve items I need from the top shelves of every aisle. I had kind of shied away from using these sorts of services after some abysmally bad customer service experiences at other stores, usually involving some ridiculous (almost hilarious) item sustitutions, or unstaffed pickup areas. Definitely not the case here, I am impressed every visit with their helpfulness... and I know that being in a wheelchair I am slower, but they never make me feel rushed or that I'm a bother and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that. These guys should be out training other stores how to run Drive Up and Go. If you haven't tried it at this location or if another store caused you to lose faith in it, this is the place to go.

I swear every time I go here they make you feel like you're robbing a bank it's wild parking is no bueno and I get the fact that it's a bad time but not everybody is up to something customer service should be a real thing way to drop the ball Safeway steer clear of the store people there are plenty of other locations away from this District
