Safeway

My family and I have been shopping safeway for a very long time, its our go to store for stuff, been going probably since the early 90s. With that said.. 1 star is a generous rating for this store.

Safeway always has great deals. I'm really getting into their "just for u" mobile coupons. So easy to go through the app and select the things that you frequently buy anyway and see them go super inexpensive.

Look, I'm not the type to leave reviews over a slow checkout line or someone being short with me. Life happens. But this Safeway has a real problem, and it's not the small selection (though yeah, upgrade that too). It's that half the staff would rather chat with security than actually work. Meanwhile there are open drug deals happening at the front entrance, people getting high right outside the doors, and everyone just... walks past it like it's part of the decor. A simple "hey, move it across the street" isn't a big ask. And if your self-checkout glitches, good luck getting help without an attitude, since apparently the front door conversation is more important than the job. I'm not asking for perfection. I'm asking for basic management. Get your team focused, set some ground rules, and maybe don't let drug deals become part of the shopping experience.

We had an amazing first experience with your order and pickup option so we decided to try it again and again, we were blown away. Dustin has now fulfilled a few of our orders and each time has been better than the last. He is super prompt, very friendly, and a joy to see. He even greets us by name, something so rare today! He always helps me with the app and finding the deals. We love Dustin and Safeway!

I frequently travel to Portland to visit family. I used to visit the closest Safeway, and eventually switched to just going to any grocery store that was nearby. Eventually I did a pickup order at the Safeway Lovejoy location and ran into Dustin. He is so amazing that I referred my entire family to this location and they are now all dedicated patrons. We love this location because of Dustin! His attention to detail, kind, courteous, and knowledgeable demeanor, and insistence on providing actual help is unmatched. I always refer others in Portland to this location and hope that they run into Dustin. He had the patience to explain to my elderly father how to use his app and get the code we needed, and Dad understood. Our grab and go orders couldn’t have been better if we shopped ourselves. Dustin seems to remember me and others in my family and is always a joy to see. He deserves more than 5 stars. 10/5 stars. Won’t go anywhere else.

Self checkout upcharged me $12 over what should have been a $44 receipt based on shelf tags. The attendant helped override it but pay attention to your final receipt.

This would be a miserable place completely if not for a few extraordinary employees. Bottle machines NEVER work. Customer service calling for help has routinely been more than a hour wait (unacceptable and I have left with unresolved problems). Just terrible.

Not too crowded tonight and was anle to figure tonights donner rather quickly. I usually dont give higher then four stars because there is always room for improvement.

Mold on overpriced “fresh” produce btw

My experience at this Safeway location was extremely disappointing and came across as discriminatory. Two employees stood and watched me without offering any assistance. Another staff member informed me they were short‑staffed and would help me within five minutes, which I understood. However, no one ever returned to assist me. Eventually, one employee told me she would help and asked for a moment, but then went into the office and remained there for an extended period of time. If staff are unable or unwilling to assist customers, that behavior should not be directed toward individuals who are simply trying to use the store’s services. Regardless of how busy the store may be, customers deserve basic respect and professional customer service. The treatment I received was unacceptable, and I would not recommend this location. The management also appeared disorganized, which contributed to the overall negative experience.
