Aggressive guards, creepy managers that will follow you around the store pretending to stock while they are actually just trying to harass poor-looking customers. Put hands on me and detained me over $2.97 of yogurt I mistakenly forgot to ring up, then refused to let me pay for it. I believe these staff members were transferred or fired after this Incident because I havent seen them since. Have observed the insane security guards tackling homeless people multiple times over minor shoplifting offenses. I observed one of the security guards literally following a homeless man who was asking for money at the neighboring chipotle, which is a block away, and physically threatened them until they ran away.... What are the guards doing, chasing people outside, and even *inside* of neighboring businesses? They seem to have an issue with staff who despise poor people. They lock up baby formula and feminine products....that alone? Enough said, frankly. Avoid.

Dustin runs the Pick Up & Go department like the navy 🫡 he is super courteous, prompt, and always goes the extra mile to make sure you get everything you ordered correctly. i don’t use Pick Up & Go super frequently, but definitely considering using it more often knowing Dustin has everything taken care of. wonderful shopping alternative for days when i don’t feel like putting up with the downtown Portland tweaker craziness (which this location is unfortunately very subject to). great job Dustin and highly recommend the Pick Up & Go option for other tired Portland shoppers lol

Writing specifically to review the Drive Up & Go service offered here: I wish I could offer 6 stars! The service is a huge convenience, and saves me an incredible amount of time week after week. Employees are consistent, reliable, and always fill my order even quicker than the estimated time slot! I want to make a huge shout out to Dustin in particular - he's incredibly communicative, thoughtful, efficient, and goes WAY above and beyond to make sure my order is accurate, well-selected, any any substitutions appropriate and submitted for my approval. This man deserves a promotion and a raise! Dustin, thank you for all the effort you put in every day!

I want to say Dustin is a great employee at Safeway. He is kind, courteous, and super at his job. He always makes sure my order is correct and he goes out of his way to make sure I am satisfied and leave happy. He saves me time and stress, making the grocery shopping experience much easier for me always. If I could give more stars I would. Pick up and go is great and Dustin is the BEST! Thank you so much.

"Did you forget your wallet again?" um. No, actually. Still in my pocket. Trying to keep it pleasant like, "I am 53- my skin looks like crap- I look older than I am...) Then show her my debit card after just rolling out of bed like- like this chick is already annoyed when I pull out the wrong card. I say, really "it's not that big of a deal..." She says, it is a big deal because "we're on camera..." so. Yesterday (when we were on camera) I forgot my wallet and she allowed me to make a purchase with no ID. Today- she asks me straight up if I forgot my wallet- apparently based on the fact that we're on camera. Now she says I'm "trying to tell her how to do her job." I told her she was being "inconsistent." Involving a large security guard standing nearby who claims I'm "talking down to him" by explaining exactly what happened. Having a large security guard stationed directly beside me rather than at a neutral distance made the situation physically uncomfortable, which I explained was unnecessary. Acting like I won't merely finish the transaction when he's that close, as if I'm some threat. Did I forget my wallet again. With the "have a nice morning." Not so cute.

It was better than expected. It was early in the day so there weren't a lot of people around. The Safeway workers were very helpful. The bathroom was clean. And I found some good deals!

I live just a few blocks from this Safeway, but it is quite a dreary place, often items are out of stock, and sometimes the customer service is shockingly bad. Today I tried to purchase a bottle of wine, produced my ID (full disclosure, I am over 60 years old), but was denied the sale by the clerk because my wife, who is also in her 60's was with me, did not have her ID on her. It was ridiculous, with no common sense. Needless to say, at no other stores does this happen. A few days before I bought deli meat, which was a miserable experience. Often they slice it into slabs, and not sandwich-style slices. Took forever too. Fortunately there is a Whole Foods and New Seasons also in the neighborhood, which are much more pleasant to shop at. They will get my business going forward.

The drive and go service at this location of lovejoy street is amazing. Dustin and Christopher have dropped off my groceries for pickup weekly for almost a year. They are always super nice; always on time, they adapt to my availability, and accommodate my substitutions. Because of them they make my busy weeks so much easier and doable. I strongly recommend drive and go because of them
