I wish I could give ZERO stars. This company is extremely unprofessional and lacks basic customer service skills. After our accident, the police had our car towed to their facility — which unfortunately brought us into contact with this nightmare of a business. We called ahead specifically to ask if we could take photos of the car for our insurance claim. They said “absolutely,” but failed to mention that they charge over $400 just to access the vehicle and take pictures. That’s borderline deceptive. Since the fees were outrageous, we decided to move the car to a different location and let them know we’d be back the next day to arrange pickup. We live 1.5 hours away, so coordinating everything takes planning. The next morning, I called five times to confirm whether my husband could pick up the vehicle instead of me. I was told “yes,” but no one bothered to mention that if we were paying with a card, I had to be physically present “due to policy.” Their communication is terrible, and the manager genuinely seems to enjoy arguing with customers instead of solving problems. If you’re unlucky enough to have your car towed here, be prepared to deal with hidden fees, attitude, and zero accountability. Absolutely do not recommend.

Paid $370 for a battery that was the wrong one for my car and caused it to die. called in and was told “no refunds” then accused my friend of 6 years at the dealership to be lying to me about them putting in the wrong battery because that was the correct battery in their “book “ . evidence clearly shows you gave the wrong battery. Just overall shady business that looks to scam people and they don’t care . it’s shameful.

There are Scammers. I have got progressive insurance road assistance. I needed a battery jump. They sent a guy named Israel who was acting friendly but was a big scammer. He gave jump to my car and he said he will check what’s wrong with my battery. He put out the terminals and said alternator is good but the battery needed to be changed. And it will cost $350 with labour charges with 30 months guarantee. I denied any change. He said he will jump again and asked me to go in the car to start it while he has loses the terminal connection. I tried to drive and it went off. I called him back and he refused to come back and was just 2 blocks away from me. He was still trying to sell me the battery. I asked my insurance to send another guy, it took like 2 hrs but the guy was real honest. He said the connection was loose and he tighten it and battery was totally fine. I went to Jeffy lube the same day they said the battery was fine too. No need to replace it. THIS GUYS ARE SCAMMERS. BE AWARE OF THEM. THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR SITUATION. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

They were sent to me by AAA. I was very far south they came quickly during rush hour. There prompt service was amazing. Changed my tire in a blink of an eye. The gentleman who came out unfortunately did not get his name but he was awesome. Professional, polite, very friendly and did a great job. I highly recommend this company. I am sure if they run their business just as efficient. I will definitely recommend them to any one who asks about a place to get work done, or if they are disabled somewhere in the city of Chicago. Thank you again for excellent service.

I got a flat and was connected to Wells via my Progressive Roadside Assistance. Robert arrived in ten minutes and changed my tire in five.

My 18-year-old son, who lives in Indiana, took his high-mileage car (intended for local use) to a concert in Chicago. When he returned to the parking garage, his car wouldn't start. I had it towed to Wells Automotive. Frank was very kind and understanding. He got my son's car in and inspected it very soon after it arrived. He promptly informed me of the issues found. He ordered and installed the parts, and my son was on his way back to Indiana the same day. The day after, Frank checked in to make sure that my son and his friend made it back ok. Very appreciative and highly recommend!!!

Had the pleasure of arguing with the most unprofessional people in a business this morning. Let’s start by saying my car was towed here after an accident and they tried to tell me I couldn’t get any of my property without paying $850 or $275 plus my title to receive my phone out the car. “Per state police rules” they claim. Called the state police using the number wells auto gave me and they told them to give me my property they have no right to hold it and there’s no hold on my car. LYING TO GET MONEY! The insurance company had already picked my car up from this location so all I need to do is show my id to get my property. So because I went over their head, they thought it was funny to ask me for all this documentation even the police report to get my phone. I called the police. You can also hear the petty behavior in the video. “Show her her phone” so of course after realizing these people wanted to play with and thought it was funny, these two guys got to hear some of my favorite choice of words and even heard how loud my voice box can reach :). Very ignorant and ghetto behavior.

Car battery died overnight. They pre charged me 100 to come jump it. Black guy with face tats pulls a machine out to “test” the battery. After 6 seconds he determines it’s dead beyond repair. Luckily for me though, he sells them for 460 dollars. I tell him I can’t Alford that and can he please jump my car. He gets wildly offended that I don’t believe him and threatens to leave.finally after begging he jumps my car and it starts immediately. These people will smile as they lie to your face and attempt to rob you. Stay far away from this fraudulent scam of a company.

Avoid Wells Automotive Service. They were dispatched through my Progressive roadside assistance claim and refused to tow my vehicle unless I paid extra for a “winch.” My vehicle was not stuck. It was parked on a regular street in an open, easily accessible location. It was a 2006 Honda Odyssey, front-wheel drive, with the key available and capable of being put into neutral. I confirmed multiple times with Progressive and Agero that the tow was covered under my policy, yet Wells Automotive still demanded an additional payment of $156 and refused to perform the tow. After hours of arguing, Progressive sent another company. Their driver arrived with a flatbed and loaded my vehicle without any problems, without using a winch, and without charging me a single extra dollar. He even told me I should file a complaint (and I definitely will do it) because there was clearly no reason to require a winch in this situation. Based on my experience, this felt like an attempt to pressure a stranded customer into paying for a service that wasn’t needed. I lost half a day because of this. I would not trust this company and hope Progressive and Agero stop using them as a roadside assistance provider.

After a very frustrating day, Wells truly came to my rescue! Multiple companies told me it would be 24-48 hours for a tow, but Wells came in 30 minutes. A special thank you to Jesse, my tower, who has incredible customer service skills. I will definitely come back to Wells if I ever need a tow again!
