Showed up to shop in person and the store was closed when the website and Google said open. Bought the two products online I was going to buy in person and was only shipped one item. Similar experience last year when I was shipped the wrong product and Schoolhouse said I had to pay for shipping the wrong item back. Will not be a returning customer in person or online.

I’m disappointed that I have to write this review, as I love Schoolhouse’s design and products. I’ve purchased many items without any issue whatsoever. However, I recently engaged with “customer service” for the first time and had the same lackluster, confusing experience as everyone else. I was in need of a few very basic replacement parts for one of their light fixtures. Given their price point, I expected Schoolhouse to stand by their products and at least offer me the ability to place a special order for the parts. After weeks of unhelpful emails with their support team, I finally drove to the showroom to speak to a human in person. Their suggestion to me was to purchase an entire new light fixture—at a cost of $349!—and take the parts that I needed from it. Mind you, the factory where these fixtures are assembled is right next door. I ended up visiting an independent lighting shop across the river that was happy to help me find compatible parts for $10. (For the record, the Schoolhouse employee I spoke with was incredibly kind and I got the sense that they did all they could for me.) If you’re fortunate to live near the Schoolhouse showroom and can catch one of the sales they do, I still think this brand is worth it. Just hope you never require any sort of customer service.

I purchased a shower curtain from Schoolhouse recently. While I was hanging this shower curtain up, I noticed it had 11 holes instead of 12 and excess fabric on one side where I assumed the 12th hole should go. I reached out to Schoolhouse about the defective item and they assured me the shower curtain was meant to have 11 holes. I’m still confused why they would sell a shower curtain with 11 holes and then also sell a pack of 12 shower curtain hooks. I’m confused what this excess fabric is meant for. Customer service has been extremely slow to respond - on top of that they told me I could pay $15 to return the item and wait for it to get back in stock, after assuring me the item I received is meant to be this way? I’m disappointed with my experience and this product appears to be defective.

Schoolhouse Electric refused to cover a manufacturer defect on a lamp despite the product being under warranty. They told me that "PAINT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY." There is no mention of that on their website. Edit: 500 impressions later on this review. Very happy to see the amount of potential customers that saw my review. Thankfully my product is still under warranty until November 2024 so there is still time for Schoolhouse Electric to make it right.

I love their stuff, but very disappointed in customer service. Received 2 pendants that were both dinged upon opening from package, after a 2 month delivery wait. We had already gotten rid of our old fixtures so had to put them up… their team wouldn’t give any sort of discount even after immediate proof of compromised fixtures. Unfortunate that paying high quality prices doesn’t equate with high quality customer service

Large showroom with beautiful midcentury modern furniture, lighting, decor, and hardware. We purchased the hardware for our newly renovated kitchen here and are so happy with the weight, comfort of use, and quality. I purchased samples of hardware from a lot of other shops and the Schoolhouse hardware was leaps and bounds higher in quality, modernity, and style. For larger quantities, you'll likely need to place an order for hardware. I just stopped by twice and over the two visits was able to pick up everything I needed. They offer discounts to industry professionals. They also had a pretty decent sale on hardware (about six months after we purchased ours) so it's worth it to sign up for e-mail alerts if you plan to purchase down the road. Their catalogs are beautiful. The prices are high, but for locally made, high-quality, stylish pieces, they are well worth it. As a side note - the coffee bar seems to be back up and running.

My fiancé and I absolutely love the home goods here! We've previously only been on their website, so when we were planning a trip up to Portland we knew we had to stop here. The space is in an old industrial building with an open floor plan. The space has great light and it's a great opportunity to see how certain products can be styled for inspiration. We ended up leaving with some new bedding that we fell in love with! Just wish the prices were a bit cheaper, but you're definitely paying for quality items here!

Having ordered many Schoolhouse products over the last ten years, seeing the mothership in person finally happened. The store is beautiful, showcasing all products. It also has a lot of vintage goods and a cafe inside. The quality and craftsmanship of this company is top notch. Bike parking is a A + right in front.

I never write Google reviews but after my recent experience with Schoolhouse I found it worth it to dig up my Google password so I could warn others away. I purchased a bed frame (among a few smaller items) from Schoolhouse back in early January. It took a month to ship and in that time I got only automated email responses to my request for follow up. The order finally shipped but then the shipper said the bed was lost in transit, left at a transfer warehouse. I finally got word on Monday that it had been found and would be included in the drop off of my order. Well my order arrived today without the bed frame. The shipper says they never took possession of the bed frame, and Schoolhouse’s response has been to basically throw up their hands and say they can’t do anything. No replacement bed. No refund. Schoolhouse is in the business of defrauding their customers and not providing goods that were purchased in good faith. I had been a loyal customer for years but will never be returning after they reopen their doors. They should not be allowed to operate a retail business.

Wish I could discredit the other bad reviews but the experience was pretty lackluster. We ordered 2 nightstands during their 20% sale and waited excitingly for two weeks to receive a shipping confirmation. That never came and instead an email explaining our order was canceled due to over selling of the unit. All that was offered was a 10% code for the inconvenience. At the very least I would expect the same 20% off we made the purchase for. When emailing back to ask how this happened and why it took so long to get notice, I never got a response. The product we have bought previously has always been nice but this experience leaves a bad taste and makes me hesitate to purchase from them again.
