Purchased the Atwood 20” pendant light fixture and waited almost two months for delivery only to find the item was damaged due to very poor packaging which allowed the fixture to break through the box. Very disappointed and no one to speak to for up to two business days.

Garbage company with terrible customer support. I ordered several items and was charged immediately but they are still “getting ready for shipment” after 2 months. I understand delays but have the professionalism to provide a phone number so customers who have been waiting can speak to an actual human and not just an AI Bot customer service message platform “promising to get back with an update”. I can’t even get to speak to someone to cancel and refund my order. Seems pretty criminal to me. Wish I lived in Portland so I could at least find the store to try to get some assistance.

Disappointment, frustration, not getting your in stock order, and zero interaction from customer service are all things you can expect to experience when buying products from Schoolhouse. I ordered three in stock items, after twenty business days (double the amount of time their site states it will take to ship stuff) I reached out to see where my order was and… nothing! I did have two emails back from an associate saying he was “working hard to research my order”, but nothing more than that, and also no order. I called their actual store, reached out on social media and NOTHING. After two weeks of no information about when my in stock items would arrive, and thirty business days after purchase, I tried to cancel my order and again… nothing. More emails about gathering research. This is a shame because their products are fantastic!! But the complete lack of customer service and zero communication is enough to make me never order anything from them again. Ever!! Mistakes happen! But not following up and trying to fix them and ignoring your customers is just bad business. Please buy your home goods from a small business that cares about its customers or a big box store that actually ships their orders. Either way, do not roll the dice and use this company or expect have all your expectations not met.

Sadly since they were purchased by Food 52 this company has gone steadily downhill. Customer service is terrible. As mentioned by other users their shipping cost is simply a money grab for an extra 10% AND they charge you restocking fees (one of the reasons I’m sure they closed the brick and mortar to the public so they couldn’t pick up or return anything) they don’t have a phone number and they are terrible at responding to emails. If I hadn’t known them before I would think they were a scam. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but maybe this amongst the many other reviews will lead to change. Hopeful but not expecting it. Until then they have lost mine and my clients’ business.

Love their products, but their online customer experience is extremely poor. I reached out multiple times for order updates, and only received a response when I commented my issue on their Instagram publicly. Still, I got a vague response and not update on my items. These items aren't cheap!! At the end of it all, I finally received both products over a month after ordering. My main issue was their serious lack of communication and follow up. I am VERY hesitant to order from her again, even though they have beautiful products. I can find something like it elsewhere.

Ordered 2 beds from here. One was a much different color than pictured on the website and the other never showed up. It’s been 4 months now and I have tried to contact Schoolhouse every way possible and they have ignored me. Horrible business - take your money elsewhere.

Their bedding is extremely overpriced and the return process is confusing, slow and unhelpful. They appear to have charged me taxes twice—once for the original purchase and once for the return, the customer service is awful.

I adore their designs but the customer service is not great. The staff I've emailed with are kind and polite, but my frustrations are: 1) they offer no working phone number. 2) some items ship quickly but others may take 6-8 weeks to show up even including non-custom items and I've never received an indication of how long to expect the wait to be. 3) I had a frustrating experience recently after Schoolhouse shipped me the wrong item. First, I waited 6 weeks to receive the light fixtures and shades I ordered. They sent 3 large fabric shades instead of the 3 small glass shades I expected. They sent me a return label to ship back the incorrect shades. That's great, but I have a few concerns with this process. --They won't ship the correct ones until they receive the wrong ones back (I get it, they don't want me to hold onto the wrong ones but other places will ship when they get verification that you shipped the item back and just say they'll charge you if they later discover you sent an empty box or something). This will take a while since the return will ship *ground.* --They also only sent one label for 3 boxes, so they'll share 1 tracking number and UPS "wished me luck with that". --This is completely Schoolhouse's error, yet I'm the one who needs to pack up, tape up, label, and drop off 3 large boxes. I had to leave work early, buy more packing tape, and haul the boxes around, and reschedule installation with my handyperson (and wait another who-knows-how-long to get the shades). I think good customer service would be to offer something to make up for this considerable inconvenience, like, I don't know, a credit toward a future purchase or a coupon. Something to acknowledge that my experience hasn't been what I'd expect from any company, much less one that's not cheap. I hope Schoolhouse can sort this out because I really love their stuff!

I’ve been a long time customer of Schoolhouse but that’s about to end. I placed an order over 6 weeks ago that their website says is IN STOCK but never received it. I’ve contacted customer service via email several times but all I get are excuses. Not sure what has happened but they’ve went downhill and are losing their core customer base. It’s unfortunate. This review has been updated.

I’m loathe to write this review for a company that’s been a long-time favorite, but the recent reviews are true. It’s been over 14 weeks since we ordered a couch that had a 4-week lead time. Every time we check in with customer service, we wait several days to a week for an answer. Each one of these check-ins has resulted in a missed date of completion that inevitably gets pushed back another month when we check in again after the last delivery date has been missed. We’ve been big Schoolhouse customers for over a decade, but quality and service have both seriously degraded since the company was sold. Even ordering small, in-stock items takes weeks now and shipping communication is really unclear (part of an order will come, no clarity about where the rest of the order is until you randomly receive it weeks later). The only good experience we’ve had with Schoolhouse in the last year or so is interacting with Deena in the warehouse, if you’re lucky enough to meet her!
